An absolutely exceptional stay at the Alvear Palace Hotel. Our suite was stunning — elegant, spacious, and beautifully appointed with classic European charm. Every detail felt refined and luxurious, yet incredibly comfortable. The service was flawless from start to finish. The staff was gracious, attentive, and genuinely warm, making us feel truly welcomed throughout our stay. Breakfast each morning was a highlight — beautifully presented with a wide selection and impeccable service. The location in Recoleta is perfect — sophisticated, walkable, and surrounded by beautiful architecture, parks, and cafés. A timeless, world-class experience. Five stars without question.
We really enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which made the experience feel warm and welcoming. The room was clean, quiet, and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable, which made it easy to get a good night’s sleep, and the shower had plenty of hot water with great water pressure. In the evening, it was a nice surprise to come back to a refreshed room with turndown service. It added an extra touch of care and made the stay feel more relaxing. Overall, everything was smooth and enjoyable, and we would happily stay here again.
Extremely disappointing experience at Alvear Palace Hotel Buenos Aires, especially considering the premium pricing and reputation of the property. My wife and I arrived after a 14-hour international flight completely exhausted. Instead of being welcomed warmly, we were indirectly pressured into paying an additional USD 150 for an upgrade in order to receive our room immediately. When we declined, we were told to wait until the standard check-in time at 3 PM. After spending the day outside and returning extremely tired, we finally went to sleep — only to receive a call from reception at 2:44 AM saying someone was waiting for us downstairs. This unnecessary disturbance in the middle of the night was unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The following morning, I requested an explanation from reception, but no one could provide one. I also asked to speak with a senior manager or higher authority, which the hotel staff refused. Things became worse before our departure. Since we had an early morning flight, we requested a takeaway breakfast. At no point did the reception team inform us that certain items would be chargeable. Later, we received a message saying the hotel was “doing us a favour” by providing basic items like sandwiches and yogurt. When my wife called reception for clarification, the staff member spoke extremely rudely and used unacceptable language, saying: “If you don’t want the favour, pay for it or leave it.” For a hotel that markets itself as luxury hospitality, the attitude, arrogance, and lack of warmth from the staff were shocking. The property may look beautiful, but service is what defines a luxury hotel — and unfortunately this hotel failed badly in that department. There are far better luxury hotels in Buenos Aires where guests are treated with professionalism and respect. I would strongly advise travellers to think twice before spending a large amount of money here.
This is undoubtedly a very historic and classy hotel with beautiful historic architecture and designs albeit not worth the price. The breakfast is an enjoyable experience in a beautiful location (albeit the food is fairly standard compared to what some reviews stay), the rooms are very comfortable and the gym/pool area are very nice (albeit one is on the gound and the other is on the top so a little annoying if you want to do both). The location is great. However, the place is extremely expensive (over €800 per night) and, frankly, I did not feel it was worth it and I felt let down for this price in certain respects. Firstly, it amazes me for such an expensive spot that more complimentary aspects are not thrown in (relative to other hotels we stayed). If anything, there are extra charges such as tips, eggs at breakfast etc and we were dissapointed that a champagne for our engagement was not complimentary (it was in other hotels). In addition, works on the water in our room meant the water was off during periods of the night. This is not really acceptable for the price. I also felt the rooms could do with a few more facilities and services for the price range but it was spacious and comfortable. Overall it is a beautiful historic place but I would suggest going to a cheaper more modern 5 star nearby and calling in here for drinks or food if you wish (as the best parts are the public areas anyway).
Stopped here one night before joining a cruise. The grand lobby and reception raised expectations of an old fashioned luxury hotel. Efficient front desk staff despite a large number of customers presenting at the same time. When we reached out room, we were not disappointed. It was spacious with very high ceilings and a magnificent bathroom. Staff service throughout was friendly and efficient. Checkout was also very quick and efficient despite a large number of customers leaving at the same time for a charter flight.
