Very nice and well-maintained hotel in the center of town. Extremely friendly staff. The aperitif, dinner, and breakfast on the roof terrace were simply wonderful—the food was excellent. We felt completely at home and can highly recommend the hotel. Thank you very much for this lovely stay. It's a shame we could only stay for one night.

Views here, great. Food here, great. They drink with honey, dates, and milk was addictive. The staff here really know about everything they’re serving and the live music elevated the experience. Without a doubt a cannot miss if you are in Stone Town.

A historic building perfectly positioned with many amazing rooms. We were lucky to be put into 'The Gallery' which had been recently renovated and was fantastic. Lots or original furniture, really felt like you were 'stepping back in time'. Bathroom was spacious and clean. All the staff were happy, smiley and couldn't do enough for you. We booked an extra night as it wS such a nice place to be. Highly recommended.

Eclectic, historical hotel located in the midst of old Stone Town. Outstanding service provided by employees with varying English-speaking capabilities. All extremely friendly and welcoming. This is a historical but beautiful building. WARNING: There are NO elevators, our air-conditioner worked only occasionally and you have to hold a button to keep your shower on; this is not a "modern" hotel. We had a private balcony for breakfast, however, which was beautiful. The room was lovely and very well attended to. Being on the west side of the island was nice as there was more to see and it was easy to take a day trip to the beach and go snorkeling. Stay on the east side if all you want is beach R & R. All in all a lovely historic hotel.

What an amazing place. Due to a flight cancellation we got not only to spend an extra night in this amazing hotel, but also the privilege of seeing three of their amazing rooms. On arrival we were told that we could either do all 3 nights in a different room to the one which we had booked, or do two in the original room and then the last in another room. We were then shown the options and got to choose, which I thought was a really nice touch, and also totally necessary as none of the three rooms that we saw were even remotely similar. So long as you have good mobility (there are steep stairs and no elevator) you will not be disappointed with a stay here. The uniqueness of every room is breathtaking, the staff absolutely amazing and the dinner on the rooftop accompanied with traditional music was outstanding. They provide you with all the water you want, natural mosquito repellent (although we didn't need it in the hotel) and will even bring breakfast to your room if requested. My husband found the beds way to hard, he mentioned it to them and that night we had a mattress topper added during the turndown service (at which time they also close all the shutters and roll down the mosquito net over the bed). One thing to bear in mind other than the stairs is that there is also a city tax to stay here, which is quite expensive, but I found this hotel worth every penny. Really a 10 out of 10 in every way.
