Recently visited for an early evening dinner with reservation. We were checked in and seated very quickly. The team is very attentive and helpful with food and drink suggestions. We had the Tawle menu with us $95 per person in which you receive an assortment of dishes. Everything we tasted was incredible. The food here is amazing so well flavored with great portions. I enjoyed a spirit free cocktail the happy accident with was a blend of bitter and sweet as well as NA Tost which is month sweeter side but very refreshing if you like a non alcoholic ‘wine’ option. I’ve been here twice now and the dining experience is great. The restaurant has very low lighting making it hard to read the menus and the tables are very cozy (close together with other patrons). This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city and will definitely be returning. $$ There is paid street parking but the restaurant is located down an alley so parking in the surrounding neighborhood is limited
Really enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back when in DC. This was the first Michelin rated restaurant I had gone to, and the food exceeded expectations. It was presented well and came out in courses, which made it fun and exciting. The drinks were also unique and one of our servers gave great pairing suggestions. The atmosphere was really unique, though I wish we had been given the chance to sit closer to where the fire was, as that is why we originally booked here vs other places. It seemed that others had a better experience and we couldn’t see that at all from our table upstairs. We had reservations at 9:30 so I think they were close to closing, which made the service a little lack luster for the price.
The vibe of the restaurant was wonderful, cozy and very aesthetic. My boyfriend and I were impressed by the place and how much thought was put into the decor. The music was moderately loud but we had no issue having a conversation without shouting. Service was excellent and our waiter was very attentive. We decided to go with the à la carte option as we thought the tawle ($95 per person) would be too expensive and too much food. In the end, we ended spending around $200 anyways for the two of us which included the tip. My only criticism would be that the portion size of the kebab entrees was smaller than we had expected. Nonetheless, between the spread and the bread, we left with our bellies full. I would definitely go back again and next time order the tawle. It’s a much better deal for the price if you are in a position to take leftovers with you. Reservations are highly recommended. We were only in DC for the night and we got lucky that we were able to find a reservation. Even on a Wednesday night, the place was full and even bar seating was extremely limited.
We had the 7-course chef-curated meal, "The Tawle," at Maydan. It was a massive, delicious feast featuring mezze, three incredible spreads, a vegetable dish, a salad, a kebab, a main center plate, and a dessert. The food was both bountiful and absolutely amazing—honestly, I really hope they get their Michelin star back soon!
Okay the setup is really nice. The food is so delicious. The service is okay, but the ambiance and vibe is really nice. I went with my family for my bday on 3/24 and started off at Medina- do not go to Medina if you are colored. We spoke to some managers about the poor services and he took us to Maydan which we signed up for originally but didn’t want to wait the 29 mins - just wait. We ordered the ribeye- 10/10 the carrots - 10/10 the sweet potatoes 10000/10 I ate the skin it was good and I’ve never ate skin before haha. The drinks were fine and the bday dessert was different as it had poppy and sesame seeds but it was cool. Overall yes I would recommend Maydan any day and yes it’s worth the price. Enjoy!
