This restaurant has a very different layout from most places. When you first walk in, you see seafood display cases and a seafood market area. The dining area is further inside, which gives the restaurant a unique atmosphere. The dining space itself is elegant and comfortable, making it a great place for small business dinners or more formal gatherings with family and friends. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, humorous, attentive, and very thoughtful throughout the meal. The complimentary bread was surprisingly good, especially the cornbread. It had a slight sweetness and was very soft and fluffy. You could tell the restaurant put real care into even the small details. We ordered the lobster bisque, which was rich, creamy, and full of seafood flavor. It was delicious, although a little too salty for my taste. The crab cake sandwich was decent — not particularly memorable, but also not disappointing. The main issue was that the crab cake itself was quite small, and some of the chips on the side tasted a bit stale. The fish tacos were very good. Each taco came with double tortillas, two pieces of fried fish, and plenty of fresh vegetables. The corkage fee for bringing your own wine was $30. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would consider coming back.

This is a new favorite place. It’s located near Georgetown in an area called Palisades. It’s about 30 minute drive from where we live in Washington DC the fried clams and clam chowder some of the best I’ve had and I’m originally from New England. We also tried the seafood stew which was super deliciousand two desserts that post the pictures of because the presentations were really excellent.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. I went because they participated in DC’s Restaurant Week for lunch. I chose it among many other restaurants because the lunch menu choices looked great. In fact, all three courses were delicious. I went as a solo female diner. I had asked my waiter when he took my order to leave the menu so I could decide on a drink later. My waiter never returned to take my drink order. I decided to forego having a glass of wine (since no waiter returned) and just have coffee with the dessert. However, not one waiter looked at me for the 5 minutes my hand was up. The table of 4 next to me did get wonderful attention by waiters. For me, however, no one asked me how my meal was. I finally flagged down a runner to order a coffee. I was also disappointed that there was a credit card charge. I looked at their website when I returned home and never found text mentioning that extra charge. How can customers make an informed decision to bring cash if we don’t know about a credit card surcharge beforehand? It really is uncommon for DC customers to carry large amounts of cash these days. I recommend the restaurant rectify this.

After a couple days of traveling, a friend and I were craving high-quality seafood and decided to visit this restaurant based on strong recommendations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The seafood market display was visually impressive, immediately setting the tone for what would become an exceptional dining experience. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and escorted to a private dining area. Unsure of what to order, we started with three appetizers along with an Old Fashioned and a sangria. Every item we tried was thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and beautifully presented—easily a 10/10 across the board. When my main course arrived—the crab cakes—I was truly impressed. The dish was bursting with flavor, expertly crafted, and among the best I’ve had. Adding to the experience, the manager personally stopped by to welcome us and express appreciation for our visit. Throughout the evening, every interaction, from our server to the management team, was professional, warm, and engaging. This restaurant not only delivers outstanding food but also cultivates a memorable, hospitable environment. My family is based in Washington, D.C., and we plan to return every time we’re in town. Highly recommended.

We were in town on business and wanted to have seafood for dinner. We found Blacksalt and couldn’t be happier! Our waiter was amazing… attentive and friendly. He happily recommended his favorite dishes which didn’t disappoint. We ordered the seafood cocktail appetizer and split the mussels. Without asking they split the bowl of mussels for us. The timing was also perfect, cold app first, then mussels. First course cleared and entrees of the Black Cod special and crab cakes which were also amazing. We finished up with with the key lime pie and strawberry gateau for dessert… again, amazing. With each course new silverware was cleared and replaced, dropped napkins replaced before I even had a chance to try and pick it up. The only issue we had was an ordered cappuccino that didn’t make it to the table but the staff was overly apologetic and swiftly removed it from the bill. Would definitely recommend! It had the atmosphere and feeling as a neighborhood joint that they are trying to keep a secret.
