We absolutely loved our dinner at L’Abbatoir. Every dish was delicious, perfectly executed and came out hot. They also made me a wonderfully dirty gin martini that was perfect. We wished the portions were a bit bigger but that’s only because it was all so tasty. We will be back and recommend everyone to give this place a try.

A decent restaurant that worth Michelin recommended. All the dishes are to the satisfactory level. The little surprise is the appetizer steak tartare which the fried shiso matches well with the beef and chutoro. The baked oysters are done to perfection. Lamb saddle portion as main is quite small. The desserts are just so so.

Great fine dining restaurant in the heart of gastown. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and the restaurant gave us complementary champagne to mark the occasion. Very nice of them to do so. We ordered the bread basket, tuna crudo, octopus, duck, steak Diane and the strawberry and cream for dessert. For drinks we got the shake senora and don draper which were nice. The best appetizer was definitely the tuna crudo. Both mains were delicious too and the dessert is a must get. Total came out to around $270 before tip. Definitely on the pricier side but we had the perfect amount of food. Service was great and we’ll definitely come back!

PROS: good, attentive service, staff is friendly and the atmosphere is really nice. Out of all the food we got, the pork jowl and lime curd dessert were the two things that stood out to us. CONS: overrated in our opinion. Heard many good things so we decided to try it out- the price to portion of food you got was terrible for mains. Flavours were mediocre (except the 2 dishes mentioned above), and just the general amount of food you got was meh. Don’t think it would have killed them to provide some more veggies or filler food with their mains if they’re going to charge that much, or the octopus dish which looked like a lot but was mainly cucumbers and a couple of small sections of octopus (one small tentacle at most?). We’ve tried many fine dining spots in Montreal and this is the first time we both came out hungry. The bill after tax and tips for 2 beers, 1 oyster, 2 appetizers, 2 mains and 2 desserts was around $350… Overall I’d say it’s a nice place for drinks and dessert, but would go elsewhere for the main food.

Went here for Dine Out Can. The tuna starter and trout main (as well as the pudding dessert I was too impatient to photograph) were all phenomenal. Highly recommend adding a baked oyster to start. The cocktail list was amazing. I can’t wait to go back to try other dishes. Next time I will request a seat in the back room rather than on the loft for more ambiance. Service staff were top notch. Thx for a lovely experience.
