The plain limestone exterior hides one of the most opulent high baroque interiors in the world, featuring Caravaggio's masterpiece 'The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist'.

St. John’s Co-Cathedral is an absolutely stunning place to visit and was one of the highlights of my time in Malta. From the moment you step inside, the incredible architecture, detailed gold decoration and beautiful artwork are genuinely breathtaking. The cathedral has been preserved exceptionally well and everything looks immaculate. There is so much detail throughout the building that you could easily spend a long time simply looking around and appreciating the craftsmanship. I also enjoyed the exhibition upstairs, which provides more information about the paintings and the history behind them, adding even more depth to the visit. Although the ticket price initially felt a little expensive, once inside it quickly felt worth every euro. The amount there is to see, combined with the beauty and historical significance of the cathedral, makes it excellent value overall. The cathedral can get quite warm, especially during the hotter months, but there are fans positioned throughout the building which help make it more comfortable. There are also plenty of seating areas where you can sit down, take your time and admire the surroundings. It was also useful to have toilets available on site, which is always appreciated when visiting major attractions. Overall, this is a must-visit attraction in Valletta. There is so much to see and appreciate that you can easily spend around 45 minutes or more exploring everything. A truly remarkable building that lives up to its reputation.

Visiting St. John's Co-Cathedral was an absolutely breathtaking experience and one of the most impressive churches I have ever visited. From the outside, the cathedral looks elegant and historic, but once you step inside, the level of beauty is simply astonishing. The Baroque interior is incredibly rich in detail, covered with gold decorations, magnificent paintings, marble tombs, and stunning artistic craftsmanship. The ceiling artwork and intricate designs create a truly majestic atmosphere that feels both spiritual and artistic at the same time. One of the highlights was seeing the famous masterpiece by Caravaggio, The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, which adds even more historical and cultural significance to the visit. Overall, a must visit landmark in Malta majestic, artistic, and absolutely unforgettable.

This is a must see place. Very rich baroque church. The audio guides explain every Chapel and even more. Very well organised viewing. The Caravagio painting has special room where it is explained. I loved this co-cathedral even more, because I could understand many sorts of arms, painting and statuese explained by free audiogude. Great work👏

An absolutely enchanting place. Cobbled streets, steep ascends and declines, a host of eateries, bars and restaurants stops and decent shopping. Loved every single moment in this visually stunning place. The cathedral is simply jaw dropping, and drops in richness and gold. A complete and utterly delightful assault in the senses... SO NOT MISS!

The inside is magnificent and certainly takes your breath away on first entering, particularly after the very plain exterior. There is an audio tour to take you round but after 2 hours and the tour telling you every artist who created each sculpture or painting, it kind of gets a bit much to take in. There's very little seating as the service seats are roped off, and you cannot so much as lean against anything without incurring the wrath of one of the very many members of staff - you can see where your entrance fee goes, so if your mobility is not great, be aware. Worth a visit, but plan your time first!
