Skating at The Bentway was such a unique and memorable experience for us. The rink stretches under the Gardiner Expressway, which already gives it a special atmosphere—you feel like you’re in the middle of the city, yet somehow tucked away in your own little winter world. As we skated, the sound of the city faded into the background, and it felt calm but alive at the same time. The lights, the open space, and the movement of people created a really cozy, welcoming vibe. It wasn’t rushed or crowded, just relaxed and enjoyable, perfect for taking your time and soaking it all in. What made it even more special was looking around and realizing how beautifully Toronto can transform in the winter. Skating under such an iconic structure, surrounded by smiles, laughter, and crisp winter air, felt refreshing and joyful. It’s definitely one of those places that shows a different side of the city and leaves you wanting to come back again.
Came to the ice skating rink at the Bentway. It’s under the bridge, provided equipment rental, washroom, coffee and sneak counter, and a first aid center as well. Good for the family for winter holidays. It’s a pop up event, just check the open time before you go.
The Bentway is located right under the Gardiner Expressway. It’s close in proximity to the Old Fort York. It’s a public space where events take place like Food events. During winter, one can ice skate on the Bentway trail. During summer, one can roller skate on that same trail. During Friday evenings, one can learn to skate. Please check their website for more information like where to park, what TTC bus to take there and what time their washrooms are open to the public. I believe it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
A really nice skating trail downtown. It’s larger than some of the other ones I’ve been to in Toronto and has a nice ambiance (music, lights, seating). Since it’s under the highway it also offers some protection from rain and/or snow. It can get crowded and the skating levels are very mixed, so that’s something to take note of. While I was there (around 2 hours), the ice wasn’t refreshed, so it was a bit tough at points.
Smashing IT! The Bentway! It's a wonderful experience and unique social gathering of like-minded people. The space and the energy of The Bentway are very uplifting. What's great about this space is that it's also connected with Garrison Crossing, Stanley Park, and Old Fort York, so there's so much to see and do. Oftentimes, The Bentway has some amazing activities to see and partake in as well. So if you're looking to go take a stroll, why not head on out to THE BENTWAY. ENJOY!
