A cute homely restaurant. The staff is super nice, the main server especially is kind enough to explain the dishes in depth. We ordered the honey cardamom latte, chicken sandwich and the egg Foole dish with a side of falafel. The coffee and chicken sandwich were Ohhh soooo goooddd!!! Chicken was generously loaded on the bun and saucy enough. However the Foole dish was a disappointment considering how well these dishes have been rated and recommended too. Come to think of it, it’s just beans gravy with very very mild flavour, two fried eggs which is again mild with the bread on the side. All in all that’s a very bleh combo lacking flavour. Not to mention I didn’t find it to be worth its price for what they provide. The falafel was extremely yummy. Surely one of the best ones we’ve tried. Tahina was also flavourful, more quantity would’ve been nicer seeing how the small bowl can be easily finished with one falafel. I’m excited to go back again and try more of their sandwich variants as they seem more interesting.
Maha’s brunch was truly delicious. I had the mind blowing chicken, the portion was generous, deeply flavorful and satisfying, the tehina sauce was delicious. The restaurant itself is small and charming, felt cozy and intimate, the type of atmosphere that makes it ideal for a date. The noise level was low, so we enjoyed our conversation without shouting. The service was warm and attentive. Truly great little restaurant!
I recently visited Maha’s for brunch on a quiet Monday morning by myself after discovering it on TikTok while researching brunch spots, and I’m so glad I decided to stop in. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, local, and inviting — the kind of place that instantly makes you feel comfortable. The food matched that feeling perfectly. I ordered the Cairo Classic, a traditional breakfast dish featuring perfectly seasoned fava beans mixed with tomatoes and onions, served alongside a sliced boiled egg, falafel, creamy house-made tomato feta, charred balady bread, and salata balady. The dish was simple in concept, yet incredibly well executed. Every component felt thoughtful and balanced, and each bite genuinely left me wanting more. To finish the meal, I slowly enjoyed their signature iced honey cardamom latte, which was the perfect ending. It was smooth, flavorful, and complemented the meal beautifully without overpowering it. Overall, my experience at Maha’s was excellent. Between the welcoming atmosphere and the carefully prepared food, it’s easy to understand why this place is so loved. I’ll definitely be back to try more from the menu.
Cozy place with a great vibe. The food was really good and surprisingly affordable. The Classic Cairo was delicious. The pita that came with it is made in-house and has such a great chewy texture. And the falafel? Truly chef’s kiss. I don’t even usually like falafel, but this was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was light, cakey, and fluffy, not dense like a lot of the ones I’ve tried before. I saw a lot of reviews saying the food was overpriced, but we had two large lattes, three mains, and two espressos for $100, which I honestly can’t complain about, especially with how expensive eating out is these days. The service was lovely as well. The person serving us was clearly passionate about latte art and making drinks, and it was really nice hearing him talk about it 😊 The only downside for me is the line. It’s always long, and we waited just under an hour, which seems like that usual.
The 2 things I would rate most highly is the service and the vibe of the place. The waiter who attended to our table was very nice and trained very well to answer and give menu suggestions to help in the ordering process. The owner of the place, Maha, was also extremely pleasant going around tables and chatting with the customers. The restaurant space was a little tight, but it has a lot of character. It gives a very welcoming and homey feel. One minor gripe I have is that the utensils appear to be sealed or covered the wrong way. It was the ends of the spoon and fork that was covered with napkin and not the actual surfaces that come into contact with food. The ends of utensils that actually come in contact with the food and mouth just lie there directly on top of the dining table which is not the most sanitary. As for the food, the food serving size of the meal is great and is usually more than enough for a person. Ordering appetizers on top of the brunch meals will be good for only those that are heavy eaters. For food taste, I personally would rate it as OK to good. It was not bad, but just not something I would personally consider to rank as among my favorite breakfast fare. I enjoyed it more for the novelty of trying something different which is Egyptian food. The food was also a little on the pricey side. We (group of 2) came in at 5 minutes after 10 on a Sunday morning and were lucky enough to find seating (2 tables that can seat 4). When we finished and left at 11AM, there was already a long lineup outside.
