Dreyfus is absolutely incredible and without a doubt one of the best restaurants in the city. The various dishes are perfectly executed and full of flavour in exquisite combinations that work flawlessly. The ever changing menu is relatively small but works fantastically since you can order a few dishes and sample almost everything. I’ve been to the restaurant maybe 5 times and I was positively surprised every single one of them. The only slight negative part of my last visit was the service. Our server was very nonchalant when explaining the dishes and recommended two wines that my table didn’t enjoy at all. On top of that, she said one of the bottles was “somewhere around $90” but when the bill arrived it was 130 - sorry but 50% more expensive than advertised is not ok - not because of the money, as a principle. I highly recommend this place to anyone that loves food. Definitely worth a night out.
Great spot with amazing service. It’s a small, cozy space so doesn’t feel snobby/too snobby. We sat at the bar and was cool watching them prep cocktails and small dishes. The menu changes weekly. We had the tuna (very soft and flavourful), lamb tartar (very mild and stuffed olives were great) and the very unique trout and leek pastry puff. The French toast was a cool savoury dessert. The server was very knowledgeable.
Dreyfus has been on my list for years especially when many locals note it as their number one restaurant in the city. I finally got to try it with my siblings and it did not disappoint. I remember I had a hard time finding a menu online to pre-plan what I'd want us to order only to find out that they constantly change their menu. This is great because it really gives me an excuse to go again knowing that I'll get a different experience. We opted for their famous dauphine potatoes, the carpaccio, their cavatelli and their pork chop. All were spectacular but the stand out was definitely their pork dish. We almost wished that we weren't sharing as we definitely could've finished that plate all on our own with how juicy and tender it was! What I was incredibly surprised with how amazing their financier was -- they did their own take of a tiramisu and I almost wish they'd keep that on the menu always because I would go back just to have it again. The place is quite small so definitely make reservations!
In general, seasoning was mild and delicate. Well prepared and well presented. Nothing stood out as bad but nothing memorable enough for us to come back. Service was attentive, place was not too loud and quite cute, but stuffy.
As a French food lover I am biased. Every single dish is made with care and portions are great. Go and feel great. Take your date or best friend for a real treat.
