Small, warm stop for farm-sourced meats, French-inspired cheeses plus oysters, wine & beer.via Google

A tiny, charming butcher shop by day that transforms into an intimate French bistro by night, cooking exceptional cuts over open heat.

The ribeye for two, carved to order.

Icame in with high expectations because Côte de Bœuf is known for both its restaurant and butcher shop. As someone who appreciates good meat, I was expecting the dishes to really showcase that expertise. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. The biggest disappointment was the beef tartare. It lacked seasoning and depth of flavor, and I've honestly had much better steak tartare at regular restaurants. Given the reputation of the place, I expected something far more refined and memorable. The steak was decent, and the charcuterie board offered a nice variety of cheeses, but the amount of meat was surprisingly limited. Overall, nothing stood out enough to justify the price point. The atmosphere is pleasant and the concept is appealing, but the food simply didn't deliver the quality or value I was expecting. For the price, I left feeling disappointed rather than impressed. There are many other places in Toronto offering a better meat-focused dining experience at a similar or even lower cost.

Probably my favourite steak in the entire GTA. The cote de boeuf is truly amazing, and great for sharing. Last time we went, we also got the steak frites, the cheese plate, and the steak tartare. The steaks are cooked perfectly, and are full of flavor. It is not overly salty, and all the food goes well together. Their drink menu and wine list is elaborate and they have good choices which pair well with their food. The service is incredibly attentive, and the servers are very knowledgeable. They don’t do reservations and it’s walk up only (unless you do the butchers table). This is probably their only downside, but it’s worth the wait, and there’s plenty to do on ossington as you wait. It’s a smaller space, so anything more than 4 people might be hard to accommodate.

Côte de Bœuf is one of my favorite French spots in Toronto. We came around 2pm on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait, which made the experience even better. The food was great as always — simple, well-executed, and very satisfying. It has that cozy French bistro feel that makes it such an easy place to come back to. Highly recommend if you are looking for a reliable French meal in Toronto, especially if you can go during an off-hour to avoid the crowds.

Wonderful meal! We opted for the tartare, steak frites and the two specials they had. A burger and a corned beef sandwich. All were delicious. The burger was def a standout. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were a perfect side. I wish the steak sauce was a bit thicker, but still great. The tartare was yummy too, wish it had a mustard of sorts but the bread was delicious too. The restaurant is quite small and the barrel tables are a tad awkward to sit at but still a great time!

Visited with my daughter for the first time when they opened at noon for lunch. Ordered the beef tartare, cod fish cake and steak frites. Very generous portion of beef tartare and we had to get extra toast as there was so much leftover. Very fresh and tasty, perfectly balanced. Fish was okay, still delicious but I would’ve preferred a firmer fish cake texture. It blended in with the same texture of the sauce. Steak frites was a generous portion and absolutely delicious and flavourful. The reason why we came! The frites were also amazing, thin, crispy and addictive! Will be back again!
