I had a really great stay at UNPLAN Kagurazaka. I’m not sure if it’s just a Japan thing or the kind of travelers this place attracts, but the atmosphere was incredibly quiet. Everyone was very respectful, and the overall vibe made it feel almost as if I had the whole room to myself — which is rare for a hostel and a huge plus if you value rest and privacy. There’s a restaurant on the first floor, and when it’s not operating, guests are free to use the space. It’s a nice area to sit, relax, or get some things done. Breakfast is simple — a bagel with butter — but it feels just right and thoughtfully prepared. The location is also convenient, with both 7-Eleven and FamilyMart just a short walk away, making it easy to grab anything you need. Overall, it’s a place I would happily return to and recommend to others.
My second time here this trip. Staff are so helpfull and nice here. You got a nice breakfast included, and a coffee place with great food. The beds are super, and you have some spare room for other stuff. Allways clean and allways smells good in the room. I was planing to go to shinjuku branch but booked here and so happy for that. The train in 4 min walking and the neighberhood in relaxed, exactly what you want after a day in tokyo streets. Ita a prime location.
My first tokyo solo trip and wanted a convenient spot to travel within the city. On a website recommending great spots, this was my choice and I am so glad I went with it. I requested the lower bunk because I tend to move around alot so lesser noise pollution. It was extremely quiet and clean. The showering area was within the dorm room but the toilet was outside, a little troublesome for others staying in rooms further from it but I was right near the door so it was fine with me. It was a very small section that if you are claustrophobic, it may get to you. Keeping my stuff was a tight fit but I was backpacking, so it really did not bother me too much. I love the experience I had here and would highly recommend! It is a rather quiet neighbourhood with a few temples and a family mart, 7 eleven as well as a supermarket. Travelling wise is about less than 10mins to shibuya/shinjuku. For the price, I think the cleaniness and ease of transport is top notch!
While the location is relaxed, this hostel is decent, but overhyped. The dorm style beds are less soundproof than comparable places as there is a curtain in the front and back. The checkin is automated at the front and it can be confusing to know if you have breakfast (or an upgraded breakfast) included in the costs. The room ran uncomfortably warm overnight and they can’t do much about it. While a nice social atmosphere in the limited common areas, there are better options out there for a comparable or lower price that offer more amenities.
Lovely hostel in a great location. Nice change of pace from the bustle of the city. The dorm rooms were clean and comfortable, however, the temperature really varied! It was quite hot most nights, and the last night was freezing! The duvets are a little small! But clean bathroom facilities, washer and dryer and lovely breakfast! Would recommend for a nice hostel stay.
