Sydney Fish Market is a must visit spot with an impressive setup and plenty to explore. The large, well designed building houses multiple fresh fish dealers, offering an incredible variety straight from the ocean. On one side, you’ll find fresh seafood, while the other features a great selection of prepared meals ready to enjoy. Beyond seafood, there are also other vendors like bakeries, nuts, florists, and even pizza, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. It’s a unique experience to see the fresh produce alongside ready-to-eat options. Definitely arrive hungry you’ll want to try everything!
Visited the new Sydney Fish Market and honestly, there is so much food to explore that one visit is definitely not enough. Started with half a dozen fancy oysters with uni & tobiko and a delicious Tuna taco from Fish Market Cafe. The oysters were fresh and creamy, flavours were enhanced by the toppings and the tuna taco was beautifully presented and packed with flavour — easily one of the highlights of the visit. For mains, I ordered the Yellowbelly flounder and mud crab from Christie’s Seafood. The flounder was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked salt and pepper style — light, crispy and delicious. The mud crab in butter and garlic sauce was rich, flavourful and definitely worth the mess. One thing I really liked is that you can choose your own fresh seafood from the display, have it weighed, and they’ll cook it for you. Cooking costs around $15, and there’s an additional charge of approx. $15 if you want extras like noodles or fried buns (mantou) added to the dish. The new market itself is modern, lively and has a huge variety of seafood and food stalls. It can feel a little overwhelming on the first visit because there’s so much to look at, and it gets busy very quickly. I arrived around 11:30am on a Tuesday and the crowds were already building. Prices are definitely not cheap, so be prepared to spend, but the freshness and overall experience make it worthwhile. There are still so many stalls and dishes I want to try, and I’ll definitely be back again.
Had a wonderful experience at the Sydney Fish Market! The stalls are very well-organized, and the vendors are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend the freshest seafood available. We tried a little bit of everything and were really impressed by the quality, freshness, and amazing flavors. The seafood platter was definitely the highlight of our visit — beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We also loved sitting outside and enjoying the harbor atmosphere while eating. Parking was convenient and the market is easy to access. The only small downside was that it can be a bit difficult to move around with a pram, especially on the stairs when trying to get to the outdoor seating area. Hopefully this improves in the future. Overall, Sydney Fish Market is a must-visit spot in Sydney for seafood lovers and anyone looking for a unique food experience. We will definitely be coming back!
Spectacular!! The new Sydney Fish Market is a massive upgrade. The main market area is spacious and well laid out, with plenty of spots to sit, chill, and take it all in without feeling cramped. There’s loads of fresh seafood everywhere you look, and a great mix of new restaurants and food options to choose from. The whole place has a really good vibe and feels modern while still keeping that classic fish market feel. It’s an easy place to spend a bit of time wandering, grabbing food, and enjoying the atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Sydney.
Fantastic place. New building with many well placed restaurants and shops. Well displayed price on the seafood. Easy to walk around and quite spacious. Many choices to select. There's indoor and outdoor dining area. Food was really good. Should go there by bus or light rail. Many cars still waiting to park.
