Chinese Laundry absolutely delivered. Amazing DJs, great music across both rooms, and one of the best dancefloor atmospheres I’ve experienced in Sydney for a long time. No pretentiousness, no nonsense, everyone is just there for the music. Friendly staff, great crowd, stayed till the very end as I was having too much fun. Still one of Sydney’s best clubs after all these years.
the staff were ok i didnt have issues. the dance area is interesting and i liked the decoration/theme and hope its expanded on in future. the music was subpar. the entry fee is expensive for whats going on and you had to download the service NSW app to show your ID. upstairs dining/bar is nothing special. the drink prices were expensive, the bartenders were kind though. i shouldve known better and seen how close the place was to darling harbour itself because despite the no camera rule, people just ripped the stickers off and it wasnt enforced. so you had a bunch of people livestreaming on instagram and using flash camera in the DJs face and honestly the vibe was not it and kind of unfriendly on the clientele part. youre better off chatting up some older group in a throwback psytrance event in darlinghurst because at least they enjoy good edm and have basic respect for venues and peers. but hey if youre the type of person i described who likes it here youre probably living it up better than me so who am i to say.
Totally on me because im not a fan of house, trap or anything remotely electronic. The concept is cool but I do think it can be expanded upon especially given all 3 rooms are essentially playing the same exact thing in the same frequency. Really cool vibe but the music and rooms really just fall flat on me and feel a bit like wasted potential.
As a German girl who discovered the magic of underground clubs in my country and entered several clubs in Germany, like Kitkat, Frankfurt’s and Mannheim’s clubs as well, I really enjoyed the vibe. It’s the most likely European underground vibe I’ve had so far in Sydney, and I love it. Unfortunately not all costumers are soooo in the vibe, they just wanna have a taste for “the underground” electronic music scene, but yeah. Besides some unpleasant just turned 18-19 yrs old everything else is great 👍🏻
The fact that Dom Dolla had his early debut years here says a lot about this place— just a wonderful space with multiple little escapes for anyone to choose their likings Entry at the door will have you take a pic for your identification on an iPad — no disclosure of their data handling tho. 🤔 Bar staff is lovely, quick & efficient; the space needs overall more aircons for sure! Overall great experience in the multitudinal area of Chinese Laundry— would return for the right artist for sure!
