This bakery has stayed in my mind even a month after leaving Sydney. We went there twice during our week-long trip, and the coffee was consistently excellent. I asked for less milk and they were happy to accommodate. We tried their famous sausage rolls, pie, and ginger crème brûlée, and everything was absolutely delicious. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip.

So I was told about this place and its pies, went to check it out. It's not bad. I had a Beef Brisket and Red Wine Jus pie. It wasn't half bad. The crust was a little burnt but you could still taste the Butter Shortbread base and it was the right softness for a pie. I enjoyed it for the most part, the Chuck part of the Brisket was good, it was also perfectly tender. The only thing for me as a personal preference is for a little more flavour but that's my personal preference. I also had an Almond Cap and it was perfectly creamy. Some people burn the coffee by over heating the Almond Milk. But this place gets it right.

Bourke St bakery for lunch yesterday. Ordered Chicken and Beef (classic) pies, Ginger brulee tart and Flat white. Both pies were flavorful. Beef had a slight ketchup edge. Chicken had nice meat chunks and creaminess to the sauce. But the star was the tart which was what we really came for. Great balance of the sweetness of ginger n richness of eggs, supported by ground pistachio. FW was slightly robust which complimented the dessert well. Staff were friendly and willing to chat. Cheap lunch for 28 bucks at a table outside to watch the world go by. As a bonus, the mounted police rode by past us. Appropriate, since it was Lunar New Year's Day, Year of the Horse. Perfect!

Best bacon and egg roll in town and great value for money. Also loved the ginger brûlée tart, the ginger flavour was bold and warming, with a rich lingering flavour that stayed with me.

Highly recommend Bourke Street Bakery! For its iconic smashed avo with feta, the iconic pies and for its service! We’ve visited every once in a while when living further down the street and it was number one on our list during our holiday, 1 year after moving back to Antwerp, Belgium! Great job, team. Keep it up!
