I would argue a perfect restaurant for a solo diner! I came in on a Friday night and was seated at the kitchen bar, right in the middle of all the action. Chloe was my waitress and she took very good care of me. She let me know that some side dishes were able to be ordered as half serves. Shiela the Somm was also a star!! She helped me pick the perfect wine for my meal. Staff in general were super attentive. The Sherry butter carrots were phenomenal and the steak was cooked to perfection. My only fault would be the bar side chairs are a tiny bit uncomfortable when eating, however this did not at all takeaway from the fantastic experience I had. Thank you for a great night 💐

Steak cooked great, reminded me of Florence. Interesting concept about no photos of the dishes, was a very jarring experience. Wait staff were friendly enough, they were pretty busy on a Friday night, so had to wait a while. Side dishes were good, the polenta that was recommended was amazing, bone marrow was decadent, the other sides were solid but nothing that stood out as a must have. Everything is a bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the steak is there - just unsure about value. All in all was a good night with friends, dropped around $1100 which included 3 steaks so read into that what you will (no alcohol either).

This is such an incredible, unique, fun experience, backed by quality food ! I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we were so pleased. The 'hidden' entrance is so fun especially when your partner is not familiar with the restaurant. The atmosphere inside is warm and vibey, the dingy stairwell makes the interior all the more impressive. We were greeted immediately after entering and taken to our table. The host and waitress were thorough in their explanations of how the restaurant worked. We were given a box to lock our phones in for the dining experience which I was a big fan of, you slow down and enjoy the night and experience far more. There was a candle on our table and the waitress told us it was made of beef and duck fat and after it melted we could dip the focaccia into it. The flavours were nothing crazy but it was a fun novelty. The steak itself was divine, so flavoursome and cooked excellently, not a single complaint. It comes on 1 plate to share and is cut ready for you to serve. Me and my girlfriend aren't big eaters so we opted to share 600g (the piece we got came to 640g) which was the perfect amount, we left very full but comfortable. We also got the dutch carrots & broccolini which was covered in green olives, I highly recommend getting vegetable sides just to balance with the steak in between. I got the cucumber & elderflower cocktail which was different and refreshing. They brought out a piece of tiramisu with a candle lit for my girlfriend's birthday which was a kind touch to end a beautiful night. Overall I HIGHLY reccomend Bistecca, it's such an enjoyable experience and worth a try !

We traveled all the way from Melbourne for my birthday dinner to try the steak—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Every dish was outstanding, easily some of the best steak we’ve ever had. The candied carrots were a standout as well. The service was exceptional, and the ambiance was just as impressive—we especially loved the charming, old rustic feel of the place. It is truly a hidden gem!

I went for the signature cut and ordered a 1 kg bistecca cooked medium. It was nicely charred, juicy through the centre, and exactly the kind of steak I want to try on my charcoal barbecue at home. I added the bone marrow with prosciutto crust and it was rich and well seasoned. The meal started with the candle dripping into a small dish for bread, a clever touch that gave a strong, flavoursome rosemary taste with a subtle hint of garlic. It set a good first impression and matched the rustic theme of the restaurant. The sides, however, let the meal down. I had the Brussels sprouts with pecorino and sour cream, the roast potato with fermented chilli mayo and tomato salt (best described as wedges with sour cream and chilli), and the Dutch carrot with sherry butter, almond sauce and pickled onion. Each had a creamy component that pushed the flavour profile toward dip rather than a simple, home style vegetable side. I was hoping for whole carrots with a clear sherry note and a cleaner finish to balance the steak. If the kitchen revisited the use of cream and leaned into simpler treatments, the sides would better complement the meat. Service was friendly and the room was packed, which did push noise levels up. Worth knowing if you’re after a quieter conversation. Overall, the steak and marrow were excellent, the rosemary garlic candle a great idea, but the sides need recalibrating to let the produce speak and to match the purity of the grill. I’d return for the bistecca and order more selectively on the contorni next time.
