Simply amazing. By far the most spectacular presentation of a recovered warship anywhere in the world. The story of the Vasa’s sinking, rediscovery, raising and preservation are brilliantly told. The displays and facial reconstructions of some of those who died aboard her are very tastefully done and remarkable. To see an entire warship of this era, presented so impressively, is something not to be missed. The museum has a good waterside cafe too!
My Swedish roommate recommended I see this and I’m so glad I did! It’s not something I would usually be interested in but being there I couldn’t stop thinking “wow!” To see the detail in the boat and even just its grandeur is incredible. I super recommend the FREE audio guide!!! You just go to their website, follow the map, and listen to the correct language while you walk around! It’s insanely well done and really immerses you in the experience. Also a really nice cafe and gift shop!
Wow Amazing Vasa Warship! Beautifully designed museum with layers of floors to facilitate view of the ship from every possible angle. The history of the ship is beautiful. The lighting and whole aura of museum is carefully designed. Well done. The artists who designed the face sculptures (of crew) need a bow. So much effort and detail put into making them so real. The detailed effort on each hair strand, eyes, wrinkles and face sweat is praiseworthy. Buying ticket in advance is recommended. The ticket is valid for whole day.
One of the best museums in Stockholm and definitely a must visit! I listened to the audio guide which helped in understanding the history of Vasa, a very interesting one. For those who love boats and history, this is the right place.
I found the experience very interesting and informative. The museum was well laid out with the actual ship almost entirely in tact. I also watched two of excellent videos on the ships history, design and sinking on its maiden voyage.
