Reviews from Google
Personally, I love fried herring. It is simple yet of so distinctive taste. It was on my list to try and I returned the next day for more. They offer a variety of servings from a basic open sandwich, through a wrap to a complete dish with a potato mash. It is a very Scandinavian experience. Do not expect fine dining here, but basic food can also be delicious.
Not sure why there are negative reviews because this was AMAZING!! I got the special and it was the perfect amount of food- the fish exceeded my expectations. You can see him cooking the fish fresh right in front of you and it was the perfect lunch! I miss it already
Although I didn’t experience terrible service toward myself, the worker was very rude toward other customers. Looked like he was about to cry or was having a very a bad day. The food is good but would you return if you were treated poorly for just ordering lunch?
Unfortunately, this place was well below our expectations. What we ate wasn't close to the original herring you would eat in Sweden. It felt like there was nothing special about the food; the potatoes and pickles on the side were also not as appetizing as what you would eat in a restaurant. Also, because the onion was raw and plentiful, it dominated the taste of the herring—which is what we came for. I would recommend this place only if you are looking for a very quick meal or an affordable option. Note: Even though it said 'open' on Google Maps, it was closed when we went there the first two times.
I don’t care what anyone thinks. This place is iconic. It’s an unassuming quick bite to eat. This little food truck might not serve you the singular fried herring plate, you’ll ever get your grubby, little Instagram infested hands on, but it will serve you cultural history and it will hit the spot. Get the “Skåning” and be quick with your means of payment.
