Came around 6-6:30 pm and were able to get a table for 2 without a wait luckily. Heard about this place through reviews and it absolutely did not disappoint. They had a vegetarian option for my wife and absolutely delicious food. Food felt and tasted very homey and fresh. The best meal I have had in croatia and in quite some time. Highly recommend. Best tiramisu I have ever had too. Changing menu daily and items are on the menu for the day until they run out. I got one of the last pieces of hake steak below. 10/10!

We came to know of this place from the couple with whom we shared dinner at Lady Pipi in Dubrovnik...very glad we took their recommendation! Located just outside the Old City walls by the Golden Gate, this establishment has two dining areas - a bar setup with one additional table and, across the street a larger room with tables. They don't take reservations so to avoid a wait, get there early. At the suggestion of the waiter we tried the fish soup, a revelation...unlike any other such dishes we've had. The main courses were also fantastic - both sea and land. The sides were also amazing - a green pea puree, a warm potato salad, Swiss chard and cold potato salad with pickled onions. We liked it so much, we went twice.

Wonderful! Cash only so be prepared. Our hake and tuna steaks were beautifully prepared and prosciutto and salad starters were ditto delicious. Place is tiny but split in two... we were seated across the alley. Service is spot on, friendly, clear and not pushy at all. 10/10. Oh yes, the 80s tunes were a nice add-on to our experience.

Visited Villa Spiza and absolutely loved it. Such a cozy and authentic place, you can see the chef preparing your meal right in front of you, which makes the whole experience feel even more special. The incredible smell hits you as soon as you walk in, delicious fresh food! Everything was very clean, the staff were extremely friendly and the chef was happy to help with any questions or recommendations. Definitely a spot I would highly recommend if you’re visiting Split!

I really wanted to love this place... everything fresh from the market in the morning... handwritten menu for the day. The food was great. The service was almost non existent. This could easily have been a highlight reel experience but the lack of any attention to the service ruined the experience. They basically dropped the food and ran. We were seated in a table that was right in the middle of the traffic pattern. All she had to do was slow down long enough to check on us occasionally and we would have spent 50% more money on more glasses of wine. When she did finally decide to check on us, I told her how I felt. She tried to make it better by bringing us a complimentary glass of wine each. Nice try, but for me, the damage was done. Really a shame.
