A real treasure trove of history. Small in area, but huge on history. Highly recommend a walking tour. I paid €15 for small group tour. Changing of the Guard at 1200 is a little touristy but a nice touch.

Diocletian’s Palace is an incredible place to visit and definitely one of the highlights of Split. Walking through the palace feels like stepping directly into history, with ancient Roman walls, beautiful stone streets, impressive arches, and a lively atmosphere all around. What makes it special is that it is not just a monument — it feels alive. There are restaurants, shops, cafés, local people, tourists, and performers all inside and around the palace area. The mix of ancient history and modern city life is very unique. The architecture is beautiful, especially the Peristyle area and the old gates. It is also a great place for photos, walking, and just exploring without rushing. Every corner has something interesting. It can get crowded, especially during the day, but that is expected because it is such an important and beautiful landmark. I would recommend visiting both during the day and in the evening, because the atmosphere changes completely. A must-see place in Split. Highly recommended.

Incredible place! Everyone who visits Croatia needs to come here at least once. So much to see and do around the Palace and I highly recommend booking a local walking tour to learn more about it's history along with the history of Split.

Honestly spectacular. Can get very busy, but its beautiful. Sit and people watch in the daytime and enjoy a drink with live music at night. Early in the morning there are less people.
