Have had chicken rice at many places in Singapore. But this is supposed to be THE one. Saturday lunch so was expecting a queue - moved very fast. Ordered both the steamed and roasted versions. Was served on paper plates and with no broth on the side. Super disappointed. The chicken and rice were tasty but nothing great. Have had similar at other places. Great I got this done but unlikely to come again.

As ridiculous as it may sound, after eating meals ranging from S$150–S$400 in Singapore, this S$9 meal was honestly one of the most satisfying comfort foods I’ve had here. It’s such a simple dish — steamed chicken with sauce over chicken rice — but somehow incredibly flavorful and comforting. Nothing fancy, nothing overly complicated, just done really well. Sometimes that’s exactly what makes food memorable. Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice had the longest line in the market, which says a lot because of its Michelin rating, but the queue moved surprisingly fast. Unfortunately, the roast chicken was already sold out by the time I got there, so I only tried the steamed version. Now I understand why this place is so famous. I also explored a few other stalls in the market and tried fried oysters and some noodles as well. Everything was affordable, quick, and worth trying. Honestly, one of the best parts of Singapore food culture is that some of the most enjoyable meals don’t come from luxury restaurants, but from humble hawker stalls packed with locals and tourists standing in line together

Got half a chicken and two rice for $19. This store don't serve roasted chicken, only steamed - the steamed chicken is unbelievably silky soft, topped with generous amounts of coriander, sliced cucumber and doused with the most flavourful umami sauce. Singaporeans like to say it's very touristy but as a local, I can say there's a good reason why they got so popular. If you're coming to Singapore and only can hit one chicken rice spot, this is an acceptable store. I'd recommend to get the half chicken so you get a variety of thigh, breast and wing parts to be able to try everything (usually people prefer a certain part). The only thing I can nick-pick about is that they don't serve peanut soup and the other chicken stores in the same hawker centre do.

Not recommended! As a Singaporean, I think I’ve tasted better and cheaper chicken rice elsewhere. This place is definitely touristy. I decided to come here for lunch one day and give it a try after not eating here for 3 years? Back then the chicken rice was still somewhat decent and acceptable. Now, I thought the chicken was dry and just mid at best. I added chicken meat and my plate added up to SGD 9. For Singaporean hawker chicken rice with added meat, $9 is quite pricey. I was expecting more meat too and the portion size was not up to my expectations. If the food was good, I was willing to overlook this. However, what followed was just a plate of somewhat bland and dry chicken rice which I think is not representative of chicken rice in Singapore as a whole. They expanded by riding on the Ramsay hype imo- ask any Singaporean and they will say it’s overhyped by tourism in general. I’m glad I gave it a try again after a 3-year hiatus because I don’t think I will ever eat this again even if my friends from overseas come to visit! On the bright side, service was efficient and quick. Have to give it to them hence the higher service rating.

As the number one national dish, I wasn’t that impressed. The rice could have been better flavored in my opinion. The chicken was ok and the spicy sauce was pretty amazing with the chicken. Luckily it was really cheap, I got a medium portion for 6 sgd which is quite a bargain.
