Lovely museum with compelling exhibitions in a stunning building. The gift shop is stellar. I really enjoyed the interview videos in the “Origins” exhibition as it gave you a firsthand insight into the complexity of Peranakan identity. The art and fashion of the upper floor exhibitions were also stunning. Only downside was that we missed a guided tour because it didn’t run during Lunar New Year.

I had a really good time at the Peranakan Museum. The building itself is beautiful, three floors connected by an open central atrium that lets in lots of natural light. It feels bright, airy, and really charming from the moment you walk in. The galleries are easy to explore and filled with interesting pieces like colorful porcelain, traditional outfits, beadwork, and jewelry. Everything is presented clearly, so even if you’re not familiar with Peranakan culture, you can still enjoy and understand the stories behind each item. I also loved how the whole building is designed. The pastel colors, wooden details, and classic windows make the place feel warm and elegant. It’s a great spot to slow down and take in the details. The layout is family-friendly too, spacious enough for kids to walk around without feeling cramped. It’s one of those museums that feels relaxing instead of overwhelming. Overall, it’s a lovely place to spend an hour or two. If you’re in Singapore and want something cultural but easy to enjoy, this museum is definitely worth a visit!

💐If you enjoy the architecture building and cultural heritage and fixtures and also the Peranakan culture as well as the various exhibitions related to. Definitely worth to visit and explore. The surrounding areas are very beautiful too. Do come and enjoy the 3 levels of exhibitions. 👍nearby there is a public car park but limited number.

Absolutely amazing exhibits. Love the embroidery and intricate needlework. Gives you a good glimpse of the Peranakans in the older days. There are also some actual pictures of the Peranakans in black and white images. You can easily spend about 2-3 hours in the museum and there is a lovely shop selling books, recipe books, and accessories.

The Peranakan Museum offers a beautiful glimpse into the rich and unique culture of the Peranakan community. The exhibits are elegant and thoughtfully curated, with vibrant textiles, intricate jewelry, and everyday objects that reflect a fascinating blend of Chinese and Malay heritage. I was especially captivated by the famous beaded slippers and garments. These delicate pieces were traditionally handmade by Nyonya women, each tiny bead carefully stitched by hand with remarkable patience and skill. Seeing them instantly reminded me of the beaded shoes my daughter loved to wear when she was little — a small and unexpected connection across cultures and generations. It’s a charming and meaningful museum that allows visitors to appreciate the artistry, traditions, and lifestyle of the Peranakan world.
