Widely credited as the creator of the black pepper crab, offering a more intense, less sweet alternative to chili crab.

Recently visited Long Beach Seafood at Dempsey and honestly, the whole experience felt like one of those classic Singapore seafood dinners that’s perfect for gatherings and celebrations. The restaurant has a more traditional Chinese seafood restaurant vibe, but the huge live seafood tanks at the entrance immediately make the place feel impressive and premium. The lobster porridge was definitely one of the highlights of the meal. The broth was rich, creamy, and packed with seafood sweetness after simmering with the lobster. Every spoonful felt super comforting, especially with the chunks of lobster meat inside. The fried rice served separately with crispy dried sole fish added a really nice texture and fragrance once mixed into the porridge. Another standout was the chilli crab. The sauce leaned towards the richer and slightly eggy style, which paired really well with the crab meat. The crab itself was fresh and meaty, and honestly, the sauce alone was already addictive enough to go with fried buns or rice. The white pepper crab was equally memorable too. Compared to the heavier black pepper style, this version felt lighter and more aromatic, allowing the natural sweetness of the crab to stand out more. The pepper flavour was fragrant rather than overpowering, with a gentle spicy kick that slowly builds up. The crab meat itself was fresh, sweet, and super satisfying to crack open. I also liked that Long Beach offers a huge variety of live seafood options; from crabs and oysters to lobsters, geoduck, king crab, and other premium seafood selections. Walking past the live tanks honestly makes you want to order everything. Service was generally attentive and efficient despite the restaurant being quite busy. The environment feels spacious and comfortable for family dinners, business gatherings, or celebrations.

Came here for the crabs based on a recommendation. The food was a little pricey but the quality of the food was pretty good. The dungeness crabs were fresh with meaty parts. We had 1 in white pepper sauce and 1 in chilli sauce. The roast chicken was yummy as well, with even the breast meat being tender and not dry.

The food was delicious, as usual! The bamboo clam was very fresh and juicy. The white pepper crab sauce was truely the best I've ever tasted and the Irish duck was super tender.

It was wonderful having dinner at an outdoor table, especially on a breezy February night. Atmosphere was lovely as the lights lit in the garden. We had Chili crab and razor clam and yes, it was wonderful as usual.

Had a wonderful company dinner at Long Beach, a renowned seafood restaurant in Singapore that is known to be the creator of the original black pepper crab dish. The restaurant is nestled amidst the lush greenery of Dempsey Hill, the restaurant serves the freshest seafood from the tanks to the tables. We ordered: - Deep fried baby squid with honey sauce - Crispy white bait fish with salt & pepper - Steamed Scottish royal razor clam with minced garlic & vermicelli - Live drunken prawns with herbal soup - Chilli crab - Black pepper crab - Deep fried pomfret - Fresh scallops with broccoli - Irish roast duck - ‘Ching Mun ‘ braised noodles with fresh clams - Mango sago with coconut jelly The restaurant really lives up to its name and did not disappoint. Everything was delicious! I would highly recommend the crispy white bait fish, royal clam, chilli crab and Irish roast duck. I love their drunken prawns as well, especially the herbal soup. But this is probably not for those who hate the taste of alcohol. I love it because of the strong taste of herbs and alcohol. So rich and nourishing.
