Blu Jaz . Bro’s birthday celebration . Hiro Maekawa Funk Jazz Band. Celebrated bro’s birthday at Blu Jaz and it was such a great first experience there! 🎶 We caught the Hiro Maekawa Funk Jazz Band and they were absolutely superb. Hiro from Japan on the electric bass/ double bass was incredible, Errick from New York kept the energy high on drums, and Weixiang brought such smooth vibes on the keyboard. Loved that Hiro also performed some of his own compositions. And that jazzy funk version of Happy Birthday? Such a special touch! My personal highlight was their groovy take on “Come Together” by The Beatles had all of us singing along. Excerpt : “He say, "I know you, you know me" One thing I can tell you is, you got to be free Come together Right now Over me …” Food-wise, there’s a huge variety , from Western to local favourites and even Northern Indian options. The complimentary birthday slice of cheesecake was massive and so good! 🍰 We had good service by waiter Prakash. To top it off, we were treated to 3 tequilas on the house, shared between my brother, hubby, Bella and dad … definitely warmed things up! 🥃 Grateful for lovely night filled with great music, good food and company. 💙🩵💛 🎹🎸🎼 #gracelyystories #familytime #BluJaz
I travel so much. But this. Sorry. Could be better. The waiter screwed me and I was clear about what I wanted and for wat price i saw.in Total He srewed me at that moment not saying upfront about the to small printed to small letters and UP 20% so on every 10 an extra 2 dollar No empathie at all He just wanted the money he said not my style The waiter said he did not care at all and that is crazy The band who played was good for that 1 star
This establishment on Haji Lane is a wonderful venue where you can enjoy the performances of skilled musicians. They host jam sessions that welcome other musicians to participate, and you can attend their concerts without a cover charge simply by purchasing something. Additionally, they offer a Happy Hour special from 12 noon to 8 pm, where you can buy one drink and receive two. They also provide excellent food, with a choice between Indian and Western cuisine, both of which are of very high quality.
This place must have transferred ownership since I last went there a few years ago, as it has developed some quirky characteristics. Firstly, if you call this place beforehand, they’ll tell you the band starts playing at 8pm...and that would be a **lie** as others have noted - things get rolling more around 9-9:30pm. Secondly, the bathroom entrance door is directly to the right of the stage, making it somewhat awkward/embarrassing for those who want to go, or queue to get in. One couple, who requested a seat closer to the stage were unfortunately placed directly in front of this bathroom door, without regard to the “toilet traffic”, with no barrier of any kind 👎 Thirdly, much of the previous, spacious lounge-style seating options indoors have been replaced by more “practical”, cramped options such as closely nested bar tables & group dining tables. The food is delicious - think “Deep fried, fatty Indian pub food” with some dishes being on the explosively spicy side. There were a few slightly more healthy options. While well prepared, the cocktails were loaded with ice, making them last only a few minutes. Less stinginess on the drinks would be good. When asking the bartender, “Lemon, lime & bitters” - a global standard for minimal/no alcohol drinks - this seemed to be a mysterious beverage from the netherworld, yet the bar and available drinks menu seemed quite comprehensive. More non-alcoholic options would be great & a bit of open-mindedness to prepare custom cocktails. Periodically, the staff behind the bar were violently smashing up blocks of ice, resulting in extremely loud noises (at almost gunshot volume) without regards to the patrons and their attempts to enjoy themselves. Finding another place/way to break up the ice or eliminate the need to do so, seems a good plan. The clearing of plates at tables seemed to be a very intermittent & partial process, but the service was friendly. The entertainment was good and made up for a lot of the quirky aspects of this place.
Great place work live music. Cheap drinks during happy hour, until 2000. Elaborate food and beverage menu. Chill vibes. Sit outside if you wanna talk or smoke. Inside is too loud from the live music.
