Sober Company was one of the most fun bar experience in Shanghai. The place has many different mood inside, not only one simple bar, so it feels like small drinking adventure. Cocktails were creative and tasty, and the team was very professional but still friendly. I like the Japanese and Shanghai feeling mixed together, very stylish but playful. Food and small bites also worked well with drinks. かなり好きなバーです. It is good for friends, date, or people who enjoy cocktail culture and want something more than normal bar.
I only stopped by briefly before heading to the airport, but I really liked the atmosphere straight away. I sat at the bar, had a couple of cocktails, and immediately understood why people recommend this place so much. The staff were very welcoming and attentive without making things feel overly formal or rehearsed. The cocktails were excellent too. Creative, stylish, but still very drinkable and balanced. Nothing felt gimmicky just for the sake of presentation, even though the presentation itself was great. You can tell there’s real attention to detail behind the menu. The whole place has this dark, relaxed, slightly hidden-away feeling that makes it easy to settle in quickly. Honestly, if I hadn’t needed to rush to the airport, I probably would have stayed for several more drinks. Definitely somewhere I’d come back to next time I’m in Shanghai.
Loved this bar! It's very unique and classy. The drinks are carefully crafted and the atmosphere is simple amazing. I highly recommend visiting at least once! They also have a cute kitty that lives there so if you're lucky, you'll see her at the entrance!
Cocktails were really nice, loved them, but here I had the best Wagyu katsu sando I have ever had. Amazing pairing of very good food at a reasonable price and researched cocktails. Atmosphere is really nice, service was on point. The inspiration is Japanese. In the past this used to be a speakeasy where to enter you had to play a game with the other bars in the same spot, where they were giving you a token each. Unfortunately from some time they are not doing this anymore, every customer is informed and invited in the third and last bar (The Sober Company). Be aware that Sober Company is part of an international management with multiple top bars: SG Group.
I had a night in Shanghai to check out just one cocktail bar and I chose Sober Company, where I had nothing short of an amazing time. The location from Google map isn’t accurate and this bar is located in the big building just by the park. There are two bars on the second floor where the hidden one is called Tipsy. Managed to check out both Sober and Tipsy but must say that I prefer the former than the latter. Sober company’s cocktail menu was more vibrant and cheeky, while Tipsy’s menu seems slightly predictable even though I love its take on the classics. A worthwhile place to check out.
