Restaurant was within walking distance from our hotel and we walked in without reservation but I highly recommend to call before as there's a queue for no reservations guests. Traditional Bengbang dishes done right, home cooked taste with nearly 70% less oil than the other places recommended by Michelin. The level of sweetness also is more toned down and more palatable for someone who is used to Cantonese cooking, we had the braised fish, fish & tofu soup, local vegetable and lion's head. Around CNY260, abit more pricier for those on a budget but well worth it especially for the fish tofu soup, the richness of the fish simmered with tofu - without any salt or sugar or even pepper but just the goodness of the fish and freshly made tofu. Will be back

It was quite hard to find, and I was surprised to find a restaurant in such a place. I thought it would be a hidden gem, but it's actually an extremely famous restaurant that's even featured in the Michelin guide. Apparently it's difficult to get a reservation, and they seem to have a lot of Japanese customers in particular. The Shanghai crab was average, but Chinese food is generally delicious. This kind of flavor is great, not the kind you'd eat on a special occasion, but the kind you could eat on a daily basis. I'm so happy.

Pickled mustard greens and cashews (deep-fried), braised crucian carp with scallions, salt and pepper pork ribs, and Yangzhou fried rice. The braised crucian carp with scallions was different from the usual Taiwanese style and was very delicious. Even I, who don't eat scallions, ate most of the plate. The pork ribs were tender and pink, and the fried rice was generous with ingredients... It was the best and most affordable meal I've had in the past few days. Total cost: about 50 RMB. P.S. Remember to make a reservation. Tell the owner you're from Taiwan for a discount.

The restaurant is very small, both in terms of the storefront and the interior. Reservations are required; otherwise, you may have to wait a long time for a seat. The menu is fixed and you can't order directly; cash is the only payment option. The food is excellent, and many celebrities have dined there. It has even been featured in Japanese newspapers.
