Shanghai Pudong Art Museum A truly immersive cultural experience. The museum offers a spacious, well-curated environment that showcases both traditional and contemporary art. The atmosphere is calm, with ample room to appreciate each exhibit without feeling crowded. Exhibitions: The selection of both local and international artists offers something for everyone. It's a great place to dive deep into Shanghai's growing art scene. Space: The architecture is modern and minimalist, which complements the exhibits well. There's also a quiet café perfect for reflecting on the art. Service: Staff are knowledgeable and helpful, always ready to answer questions about the exhibits. If you're looking to experience the vibrant art culture of Shanghai, this museum is a must-visit. I highly recommend checking their schedule for temporary exhibits that change regularly.

Museum of Art Pudong or MAP is a good Art Museum, don't compare it to the Louve, MoMa, etc. If you have time and into Art or architecture its a nice place to visit. Admission ticket for weekday is cheaper than weekend, night time ticket is also cheaper. It's one price Admission ticket for all exhibitions which is convenient. The building itself is beautifully modern, clean lines. Other than the exhibitions please take a visit to the rooftop as well. You will get great view of the Pearl tower and the opposite view looking back at the Bund.

The Museum of Art Pudong makes a strong impression both architecturally and curatorially, and The Wonder of Patterns: Masterpieces from India, Iran and the Ottoman World is a fitting exhibition for a space of this ambition. The show is immediately absorbing—rich in colour, geometry, and detail—drawing you into a world where pattern is not decoration, but structure, philosophy, and language. Manuscripts, textiles, ceramics, and architectural elements from the Louvre’s collection are presented with restraint, allowing the intricacy of Islamic and Indo-Persian design traditions to speak for themselves. What’s especially compelling is how the exhibition trains your eye to slow down. As a viewer, you begin to notice repetition, symmetry, and variation not as ornament, but as a disciplined visual system shaped by mathematics, spirituality, and craftsmanship. Set against the clean, contemporary lines of the Museum of Art Pudong, the contrast works beautifully—the historic objects feel timeless rather than distant. It’s an exhibition that leaves you quietly impressed, not only by the beauty of the works, but by how thoughtfully they’ve been contextualised for a modern audience.

I was excited to visit this museum because of its designer (Jean Nouvel), and while it’s no Louvre, it certainly stands out for its architectural elegance. The clean, minimalist design is striking, with a focus on open spaces and natural light. The museum opens till 9pm which means I could go on a museum date in the night time for the very first time! The museum has four floors, each dedicated to a single exhibition. The spaciousness is impressive, allowing each collection to immerse visitors fully. The exhibitions themselves are hit-or-miss depending on your taste, but there are gems to be found. I loved the showcase of local contemporary artist Cao Fei, whose works are thought-provoking. Another standout was Olafur Eliasson’s Double Lighthouse Projection, a mesmerizing installation worth its staggering 100M price tag. The interplay of light, air, and motion is pure magic✨ 4 stars for an inspiring space that’s still finding its rhythm but is well worth your time!
