Another Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant I thought I had to try, the experience was actually quite disappointing. Visited for breakfast, the actual location on Google Maps is quite far off so had to use the Baidu Maps and Didi to get to the right location. When I arrived, the place was not crowded and was able to order and get a table easily. They give you a receipt after ordering and you have to hand it to the kitchen counter where they start processing the order and you shouldn't leave until you get the order because no one is going to bring to the table. I was just standing a few steps away trying to take some photos and the lady inside the kitchen kept shouting at me asking me to stay and wait for collection. Some of the items were already pre-cooked so it turned out pretty lukewarm, like the pork ribs and the nian gao. Only the sauce was at little hotter and the nian gao was too chewy. Thought the pan fried dumplings will save the day but was also disappointing. Ordered the mixed one with prawns and crab, the prawns one were slightly better with a bit more juicy, the crab one was dry and didn't feel like there was any crab at all. The skin was too thick for my liking it felt too chunky and heavy. The best was probably the soya bean drink, simple and original. Nothing fantastic about this place, too many branches around maybe spoiled the standard of it. Won't recommend.

Not bad for ~20RMB. It’s really delicious and there’s even a whole piece of shrimp inside. Probably something I’d purchase again. 10/10

Tried a variety of stuff on their menu, the fatty pork noodles with egg, beef noodles, but the fried buns are the highlight! Meat fillings with soup that requires a technique to eat or the contents would splutter.

Michelin star for consecutive years that serves Shanghainese treats like sheng jian bao 生煎包(meat buns steamed and then fried to have a crispy bottom sprinkled with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions), 菜贩 (stir fried rice with greens). Environment is comfy for a late lunch, no wait. Order at the counter and self collect at the counter opposite. The big bone white radish soup was really comforting. Paired with vinegar, the buns had a more balanced cut through the meaty flavours. Personally preferred the buns from 舒蔡记that has a more crispy bottom and more sesame seeds and thinner skin. If youre heading to the 🚾, it needs some sanitary care.

The location on googles maps is wrong. Keep walking up the street for another two blocks and you’ll see all the Michelin signage (see pics). The pan fried dumplings were ok. There are better ones that our walking tour guide took us to off of Nanjing road pedestrian street.
