I visited the Damien Hirst exhibition at National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul. Since I went on a holiday, the museum was extremely crowded, but the exhibition was absolutely worth it and full of impressive works. I was especially excited to finally see some of Damien Hirst’s iconic pieces in person. Seeing the details and scale of the artworks up close was an unforgettable experience. I had to wait around 20 minutes to buy same-day tickets, so purchasing tickets in advance is definitely recommended if you want a smoother visit. There was also about a 15-minute wait to enter the exhibition itself. The exhibition space was well organized despite the crowds, and there were many large-scale installations and visually striking works throughout the venue. Even people who are not deeply familiar with contemporary art could probably enjoy the atmosphere and creativity of the exhibition. The museum building and surrounding area were also nice to walk around, making it easy to spend several hours there.
A great museum is well-organized and very comfortable to visit. We saw the Damien Hirst exhibition, as well as works by Korean artists. Everything was modern and genuinely interesting. There was a queue for the Hirst exhibition, but it was absolutely worth the wait. It’s also worth noting that admission for children is free, which is a very nice bonus. The museum shop is excellent, it has several sections and a very thoughtfully curated selection of items. I would definitely love to come back again!
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul had been on my bucket list for some time. Its an absolutely incredible gallery with a fantastic selection of contemporary art. The building itself is a piece of art and fun to explore. There was a fantastic exhibition of The Poetics of Decomposition when I visited. I loved the interactive nature of some of some of the art.
I had a great experience through this museum. A lot of exhibition shows with various types of beautiful art. The staff is also nice and helpful. But I had a problem with purchasing the tickets that day. I paid with my card, and the staff said the first two payments had failed. But when I checked my mobile banking app days after, I saw that all three transactions had actually gone through. So I ended up being charged three times for the same ticket.
A fantastic modern art museum with unique exhibitions going on right now. Very different from usual modern art. Anyone under the age of 25 can enter the museum for free by showing a passport/id at the tickey desk. A great museum to go to if you are a student visiting or studying in Korea. I highly recommend!
