I found this restaurant totally randomly while walking back from a café. Only after sitting down did I realize… wait, this place has a Michelin star 🤩 I ordered the Bibimbap with soy sauce marinated raw crab, and it was genuinely delicious. The flavors were rich, fresh, and so satisfying. The only thing is the portion was quite big for me as a solo diner 😅 But honestly, what stayed with me even months later wasn’t just the food. It was the people.I was dining alone, and the staff were unbelievably kind. One after another, different staff members came over to show me how to eat the dish properly. Deeply appreciated 🥰

Our first experience trying ganjang-gejang at Keunkiwajip (큰기와집) in Bukchon Hanok Village was both exciting and slightly intimidating. This Michelin-recognized restaurant is housed in a traditional hanok, which makes the entire dining experience feel very authentic and uniquely Korean. The famous soy-marinated raw crab was definitely something outside of our comfort zone at first. Surprisingly, the taste was much gentler and more delicate than expected — almost like shrimp sashimi marinated in soy sauce. The texture was soft, silky, and rich with deep umami flavor. The crab was packed with plenty of crab roe/tomalley), which added an incredibly creamy and luxurious taste. Even if you are hesitant about raw seafood, this dish is worth trying at least once for the cultural and culinary experience. Keunkiwajip truly showcases traditional Korean comfort food at a very high level and no food poisoning afterwards.

This is the best raw marinated crab in the world. The food here is truly some of the best and I’ve been to more than 20 countries so that’s saying a lot. The raw marinated crab is their signature dish and it’s just amazing. Something that’s also nice is that if you get it over rice they get all the meat out for you so you don’t have to. The wait here can be long because this restaurant is famous in Seoul but when I return I will be making the wait again.

Very delicious for a set of crab soy sauce marinated. Luckily, no waiting queue for late lunch and can get the table when arriving. Various of side dish, soup and rice included. There are some annoying flies during the meal :/ Overall is good and reasonable price.

Had a 30 minute wait. Older ladies kind of rude. Had their signature raw crab dish. Mushy crab but interesting taste. Only gave me one glove when I asked for two. Crab portion small for price $60, but with kimchi and soup, I was full. Inside decor nice. Not sure why Michelin rated
