Had a family dinner here our first evening staying nearby. Tried the tasting menu which was absolutely fabulous! From the breadbasket course to the starters to the mains and ultimately dessert, we all enjoyed the presentation and taste of each item. Service was good though at the end we waited quite awhile before being provided our check. We enjoyed the food so much that we came back two days later and had our last lunch there before flying back home. Though pricey, it is well worth the spend for a memorable foodie experience!

Overall we enjoyed our dinner at Peumayén, especially the chance to try dishes inspired by different ancestral cultures, many of which were well presented and genuinely interesting. Started well with a delicious green chilli and honey Pisco sour and a very detailed explanation of the tasty bread course. The remaining dishes, however, weren’t explained clearly or linked back to their ancestral roots, which felt like a missed opportunity given how central the storytelling is meant to be to the experience. Service was friendly but a bit inconsistent as different staff served different things (a few staff were amazing and a few less so). Still, a memorable evening with plenty of flavours worth exploring. Top tip: get a table in the outdoor garden area as the setting and atmosphere is a lot nicer than the indoors section

What a disappointing experience. My partner and I made reservations for the wine pairing experience. Once getting there we were informed that we could not sit outside because there was a table of 15 that had been set up in the middle, and there was “no more room”. This made it so anyone who came for dinner had to sit inside making it extremely crowded and loud. There was clearly more room outside but they prioritized the experience of the larger group over all others. This was made even more clear to us when 2 hours in we were only on course 4 of 6. We just ended up paying and leaving without our last two courses. The food was okay but as a vegetarian I was served the same thing in two of the four courses. All our wine “pairing” were poured 10/20 minutes before we received our food making any white wine we received warm. The wine pours are extremely small and are more of a tasting than a pairing. Lastly when paying the check there was an additional $20 charge for my partners meal that we were never informed of before. We left hungry and angry. There are much better options with much better service in the city.

Another highly recommended restaurant that did not disappoint. From the welcoming cocoa leaf tea on arrival, our waiter Ronaldo (my apologies if I misspelt his name) was welcoming, patient with our indecision over the choices. Provided helpful suggestions about different combinations, and explained each of the appetizers in glorious detail as well as the entries and mains we chose off the Al a carte menu. Each time the table next to us had yet another selection brought out obviously from one or other of the tasting menu's, a bit of me wished I'd chosen one of those. Don't get me wrong. Our choices were delicious and beautifully presented. My point is you can't lose here, it is all served with a smile and with exquisite attention to detail. The cool courtyard was a welcome relief from the heat of the midday sun. It was a relaxed atmosphere decorated with ancient grape vines and wall hangings of weavings that gave more than a not to the ancestors arts.

I made a reservation here by accident, thinking it was a different place — but I’m so glad I did. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the Mix tasting menu was phenomenal. Every bite was exquisite, with the desserts perfectly rounding out the meal. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and absolutely recommend it!
