We live in Berkeley California and usually eat at La Mar in San Francisco. While visiting Chile we were curious to try another La Mar location and compare the experiences. The food was outstanding as always, was pleasantly surprised at the quality and the consistency shown, flavors, presentation. Cocktails were delivious as well. Atmosphere was nice. Different but it was clean, open and the music made it for a very pleasant time. It was a hot day in Santiago and we chose to sit inside instead to be cooler but it felt warm inside, could have been cooler (better AC). Service was ok. I think this is were the bigger difference was comparing both locations San Francisco to Santiago. Server did not seem very attentive at the start, he was nice and made a good recommendation but took a while to get going. He asked what we wanted to drink right away without any time to look at the menu, didn't suggest anything and I said to give us a little time and then eventually I had to wave him down to get our order going. At some point I mentioned we often visit the location in San Francisco and his approached changed. I would say the food runners were a lot nicer. Overall it was a good experience, not sure if we just were unlucky with our server but service is top notch in San Francisco. It was not the case in Santiago.

Another exemplary La Mar restaurant. This La Mar offers the local seafood and the typical ceviches. We were there around 4:30 pm and were seated immediately. Our server, Marco Antonio, was great. His mistake actually made my husband really happy 🤣🤣🤣. The grilled seafood, tuna sashimi and limeña were delicious. The sashimi was very fresh. Choco torta was delicious… not too sweet and the raspberry ice cream balance the chocolate beautifully! Another amazing La Mar institute!

Almost every restaurant we visited in Peru and Chile had ceviche on the menu, and we tried quite a few. By far the best was at La Mar — it was incredibly fresh and perfectly marinated with just the right seasoning. We also ordered the fish prepared three ways, plus a few other seafood dishes, and everything was absolutely delicious.

Outstanding experience at La Mar. The food was exceptional, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and true to the cuisine. What truly elevated the experience was our waiter, Daniel from Lima, Peru. His service was impeccable. Attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely passionate about making sure we had a great experience. His recommendations were spot on and added real value to the meal. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and consistently high quality food. Easily one of the best dining experiences we had. Highly recommended.

Can’t say enough about this place. Ceviche is the best I’ve had in a long time. The chef cooked a fish four different way for us and it was delicious. Service is amazing, attentive and friendly. Wine list is impressive.
