Emporio Zunino is a true Santiago classic and for good reason. As the oldest empanada business in the city, it carries a legacy you can taste in every bite. We tried the Pino Empanada and the Queso Empanada, and both were exceptional. The Pino Empanada is everything you want from a traditional Chilean favorite: a perfectly seasoned filling of beef, onions, egg, and olives wrapped in a beautifully baked crust that’s crisp on the outside and soft inside. The Queso Empanada, simple yet sublime, features warm, melty cheese in a light, golden dough that’s wonderfully satisfying. Emporio Zunino combines history, quality, and unmistakable flavor. If you’re in Santiago and want to experience empanadas at their finest, this iconic spot is a must-visit.
So this shop was really cool they had very few tables pretty much mostly little bar tables with stools where you can stand and eat! I don’t know how many empanadas they make a day but they were very good they were quite large and very flaky super delicious we got some different flavors of the empanadas and we enjoyed them! I’m so surprised I did not take any photos of them we actually were in the lineup quite often because we would order one and then we would order two and then we’d want to order more 😂 I would highly recommend to go here this is an extremely popular tour spot - and rightfully so and I think a lot of the locals come here as well this is a place to really try true Chilean empanadas! A sloppy mostly onion empanada called a "pino" and a very well baked flaky almost croissant in a square with a bit of cheese inside. It's been there sine 1930, so props for that, but sort of meh. Friendly staff and funky atmosphere a plus. Not for me.
Located outside the market, this establishment has been serving delicious empenadas for decades. Quick service. Very reasonable prices.
It’s packed and exciting to watch but the taste of the empanadas is not as good as the ones at a local corner store. The puff pastry on the queso empanada is very flakey but that’s about it. The del Pino one is mainly filled with thickened gravy rather than actual meat.
