Messy but worth digging in. Came on a Friday slightly past noon and there were already about ten groups ahead of us. Skipped the main line and went straight to the separate takeout window and our food was ready in 15 mins. We got a couple super tacos and a burrito to share. Everything was grilled flawlessly, and our favorite was actually the most basic one (Carne Asada). Lengua and Carnitas didn't come through as flavorful as I'd hoped, and with toppings overflowing everywhere, it got hard to tell them apart. The tacos were also so huge they layered two tortillas instead of one. We much preferred the crispy shell version over the plain double tortilla. Outer shell crisped up, inner one kept soft. Between the meat juices and the guac, things got soggy fast though. The burrito was one of the best I've had in a while. No rice inside, and the beans and guac filling that space instead made the proteins feel way more satisfying. Gelatinized starch granules usually bind fat and trap volatile aromatics, so without the rice soaking them up, the meat's aroma came through louder. Also Glutamate (beans) + Inosinate (carne asada) supra-additive chemistry just works great all the time.

The burritos were really good. It definitely lived up to the hype. Make sure to make the burrito "super" it adds sour cream, cheese and avocado. And also get it crispy. They crisp the sides of the burrito on the grill making it that much better. The flour tortilla they use for the burrito was insanely good. A little thicker and softer than all the other flour tortillas I've had before, super good. 🙌 All the employees were super nice and the atmosphere was moderately noisy but something to be expected in a restaurant this popular and this historic. The only down side is the neighborhood is a little sketchy. Be careful where you park and dont leave valuables in your car visible to the public. I hear break in are common, although thankfully nothing happened to our car. Other than this, this was one of the best burritos I've had in a long time. Definitely a must try if your in the city.

I finally had the chance to taste what is arguably the most famous burrito in all of SF. I went close to noon on weekday, and the queue was about 15 minutes long. The line moves incredibly fast, and before I knew I was already placing my order. I got the burrito they are known for which is their carne asada super burrito. I got it toasted. You place your order at the front, and then you go inside and pay your bill, and then you wait for them to call your number. The inside of the restaurant is packed, and often you will be sharing your table with other Diners, making it a very communal form of dining. My burrito took about 10 minutes to arrive, and it was probably the best burrito I have ever eaten. It wasn’t as hefty as other burritos, given the lack of rice, which gives it volume, but the meat was so tender, the beans were so well seasoned, and the sour cream, and the guac was so creamy. This was such a satisfying burrito and also the perfect portion size for one person. I will definitely be back, but I also want to try some other burritos in the neighbourhood.

Best burrito in the world nothing else compares and I’ve eaten a lot of burritos. I am not sure what it is but this place is just amazing. When my bf gets me from SFO I make him bring me this or if I’m visiting friends I always come here at least once. This place is always worth the wait and the amount of food they give for the price is a great deal too.

We came here today because we had often seen long lines outside and were curious to try it ourselves. For the burritos, I ordered the beef tongue, and the other dish (I can’t remember the exact name) was made with regular beef. Both were really delicious. The meat was flavorful, tender, and well-cooked. The restaurant was clean, and even the restroom was very clean. The staff were friendly and polite, and the service was smooth. Overall, we had a great experience, and in our opinion, this place definitely deserves five stars.
