It was my first time visiting San Francisco, and I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel staff and housemaids were very friendly. This location was great in my opinion it was a very quick walk to restaurants, the train/bus station, as well as close to shopping at Union Square. I felt safe the entire time, and I didn’t find anything wrong with the area at all. It’s not really in the main traffic gridlock of anything and I thought that was great. This being my first time visiting SF I wasn’t sure where to stay, but I am glad I booked this hotel.
Staff at reception were warm and welcoming. We were travelling as a large group with three vehicles and needed parking for a night so used the valet there. This was $65 each. There is limited space outside the hotel to park while you load your luggage and take it inside. This meant that some of our group needed to do laps around the block while they waited which was not ideal after having driven 10 hours that day. The rooms were tidy, but our room was a bit dark. The lighting was insufficient. Housekeeping was not provided which surprised us as we don’t recall this being mentioned. There is a fantastic gaming room with basketball hoops, pool etc which we spent a lot of time in in the evenings. Handy location for shopping/access to the trams etc.
The hotel itself was nice—no issues with the room. What completely disrupted my experience was the lack of consistency and transparency around parking. Before booking, I called to confirm the parking details listed online ($65 for 24 hours with in-and-out access). I specifically clarified that the 24-hour window would apply even past checkout time. This was confirmed on the phone and again at check-in. On the day of checkout, a different front desk agent told me the exact opposite—that parking expires the moment you check out. When I tried to explain that I had already confirmed this twice, she was dismissive, interrupted me, and responded with visible annoyance. Because of this, I had to move my car and pay an additional $45 elsewhere for a few hours—on top of the ~$70 already charged for overnight parking. There were also issues with valet. It’s advertised, but there’s no clear system in place. I was stuck in a no-parking zone trying to reach the hotel for about 20 minutes before someone would come out to get my car. Additionally, a $100 deposit is taken at check-in, which was not clearly communicated in advance. Overall, the issue isn’t the cost—it’s the misinformation and inconsistent communication, combined with the attitude of the second girl. Just be aware that what you’re told (and what’s advertised) may not match what actually happens.
This hotel is in such a great location. The staff are all friendly, but there are a few things to note with the rooms. 1. All of the rooms have a material gap under the door, that a hand could fit under. Not only does this mean light travels through the door at night (for people who need a dark room this is a problem) but noises from the corridor pass through. 2. The rooms are only cleaned once every 3 days. For some this isn’t an issue, but you should be aware. 3. The windows in the room I was in hadn’t been cleaned in some time. Again, not a major issue, but you would like to think they would be cleaned regularly. 4. There is a destination fee of 35 US/night. We knew this upfront, and it’s fairly standard practise. Just be mindful so you don’t get caught out. We probably wouldn’t stay again unless other options in the vicinity weren’t available.
Me and my boyfriend spend a lot of our time at his hotel . The location is perfect . Next to Macy's in union square. The rooms at the hotel are nice size , not too small . The suites are even better. It comes with a living room and bedroom. If the suite doesn't have a record player already in it then you can request one. Theres a Big game room downstairs. Basketball , ski ball , pool . Ect. They also have a restaurant next door that you can enter from the hotel. They got pretty good milkshakes.
