First time trying this place. Went there on a Monday early evening (5pm). Little wait, but there are couple of people enjoying their food. I orderd Fish and Chips, and it was good! Crispy batter and juicy fish. The included chips are seasoned perfectly! Overall, I want to try them again and enjoy the atmosphere :)
Hook Fish Co was my first stop after walking all through Golden Gate Park and it did not disappoint! The wait was roughly 20 minutes on a Friday at 2pm, seating was super limited though (and mostly uncovered outdoor only). The ceviche was top tier. Salty chips, little bit of heat from the jalapeños. The fish and chips were good, but the fish was almost too juicy that the batter got soggy. Wish it was fried a tad harder. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Overall this is a great spot and a must try when visiting!
Hook Fish Co is a very good place to eat a good fish and chip with excellent fries that are well done and seasoned. The wating time is about 20-40 min on rush hours but is is worth it. There is limited parking in front of the restaurant so you will need to find street parking. There are only outside seating that is good. On the menu we highly recomend the fish and chips and the burrito. In conclusion we will definitely come back.
Hook Fish absolutely lives up to the hype. We ordered the ceviche and chips, poke and chips, poke tacos, and grilled fish tacos—and everything was sooooo fresh and incredibly delicious. This is the kind of seafood that tastes clean, bright, and straight from the ocean. The restaurant is entirely outdoors and super charming, with quirky tables, tons of plants, and a laid-back neighborhood feel. It was a beautiful saturday, which made it the perfect setting to sit outside and enjoy fresh seafood for lunch. It’s counter service, but they do have beer and wine, which is a nice bonus. That said, this place was absolutely slammed. Seating was tough to come by, and since it’s counter service, you’re on your own to find a spot. We ended up eating the ceviche and poke with chips while standing (no photo because we were starving), but honestly, it was still totally worth it. One small downside was that our food came out in chunks (20 mins apart) since my friend and I ordered separately, which was a bit of a bummer. Still, the food is so good that it’s easy to see why this place is always packed. A little patience is required, but the freshness and flavor make it more than worth it. I’d happily go back—ideally with a little more time and luck snagging a table.
Had a great experience here! The fish was incredibly fresh, the service was super fast, and it’s such a nice spot to sit outside in the evening for dinner. Definitely a place worth visiting!
