Came here because it was included in the Salzburg card and one of the few places open after 5pm. There were 3 floors with an exhibit on each floor. Unfortunately the 3rd floor will not be ready til the end of the month. Very cute gift shop.

For people who likes modern art, you might be interested in this museum. Need to take the elevator up to museum though the ticketing is at the ground floor. There’s a coin locker area for placing backpacks and stuffs as you can’t bring backpacks into the museum. At the top floor, you can get to see the whole view of the scenery.

I climbed the steps to land on top of the hill, behind the Museum of Modern Art. The cafe has patio seating. To the side is a viewing platform where folk take city view photos. To the left of that is a trail, walkway that goes down next to the cafe. There's glass doors. This is the entrance towards the reception. Enter and go downstairs. Or go into the cafe and walk downstairs. There's a room for assorted sized lockers. You will need either a 1 or 2 Euro coin. You will get it back. The exhibitions are mind opening and provide perspectives to ponder. Identity, humanity, the environment, where are we, what are our choices. It's stepping into a world expressed in a soul full, innate, artful manner. Walk away one step closer to feeling connected to messages that may just resonate. There's an easier way down, behind the art museum is a stairs into a garden that opens into a trail, sitting area to see the view and listen to church bells. Its a lovely walk down. Enjoy!

I am normally anti-modern art, i find many cross the thin line of art & BS. Sorry. I came here as I have the Salzburg pass and there is not much to do in Salzburg as a jaded & spoiled brat I am. 🤪. The building is very cool and located on a top of the hill so you get to hike little bit. There was one exhibit which did not offend me at all. 🙏🏻 The person (sorry I still cannot use the word, “artist”) used cardboards to construct housing or nests. Other than that, the rest was something I spent 10 seconds each.

Note that there are 2 Modern Museums in Salzburg. One in Aldstadt and one on the hill that is best reached via highspeed elevator. They are related and you can buy a ticket that provides entrance to both, including the elevator ride for which a fee is charged to ride it. We visited both and they have interesting and thoughtful provoking exhibits. This museum has an amazing view of the city and a delightful cafe.
