Garden is beautifully sculptured with trees and flowers. So spacious and relaxing. Plenty of benches around the garden. Everything was well kept and the flowers were blooming in multi colors
This place is really a must-see if venturing outside the Old Town (Altstadt) of Salzburg. Known of course by Sound of Music movie fanatics for its handful of sequences filmed here, it is also a really lovely gardens in its own right. We found it was incredibly peaceful before about 8.30-9.00 a.m, and was when we took our photos. After that, the huge groups of tourists started appearing from everywhere and so we hastened away. Entry is free and highly recommended.
Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg in spring is like stepping into a living painting. It is crowded, but the beauty of the garden feels especially magical when you remember scenes from The Sound of Music, where its fountains and floral arrangements became part of such iconic, heartwarming moments. It’s a place where nature, music, and cinema memories blend into one unforgettable experience!
The Mirabell Gardens, redesigned around 1690, are a triumph of Baroque geometry. The alignment is no accident; the "grand terrace" offers one of the most famous views in Europe: the gardens in the foreground, the cathedral spires in the middle, and the Hohensalzburg Fortress looming majestically on the hill.
"Located in central Salzburg, Mirabell Garden is a beautiful spot filled with diverse floral displays. Although my visit was met with rain and cold, wet conditions, the garden still offered a lovely atmosphere. For those planning to visit, be sure to keep an eye on the weather."
