It was a great experience. Special place for a special occasion. We had the chance to taste the menu from Chef Rafa Costa e Silva from Brasil. Every dish was balanced and delicious. Wine accompaniment for each dish was extremely well suited. The highlight was the Patagonian hake but all other dishes were exquisite.

It is very clear why this is a 2 Michelin Starred establishment. I will start off by saying that every staff member at this location is what a Michelin Starred restaurant should have. The idea of having a guest chef come in for 48 hours and the executive chef of Ikarus (Martin Klein) execute the menu from there forward is mind blowing (we are looking forward to visiting again and experiencing his personal menu). It is also very clear the skill and talent that Chef Rafa Costa e Silva has, having the opportunity to experience his cuisine was an honor. My husband and I visited on our honeymoon - and this is one of the best tasting menus we have ever experienced. Having a gluten allergy, sometimes the menu has to be modified a bit - but with this menu there was 1-2 substitutes (sweet potato for a tempura base and the bread course). Also, they start your mean with welcome cocktail of choice which was such fun touch. I cannot thank the staff enough for this experience. The space is beautiful and the over all experience second to none.

I was invited to a birthday dinner yesterday evening. Although I‘ve been living in Salzburg for many years I have never been able to dine at Ikarus at the Hangar 7. The atmosphere is stunning and the architecture is worldclass! The service throughout the evening is worth mentioning as it was a delight to experience and to watch. Very attentive, very knowledgeable and friendly. The month of December is under the radar of Thai cuisine and each course was very pleasant and enjoyable. Each plate was created as a unique combination of Thai and Austrian flavours which might sound weird but worked out perfectly. If there is a slight disappointment then I was missing more flavourful spices… and I don’t mean just hot spices. The wine pairing was spot on! All in all a great experience with friends in stunning surroundings.

This might be the most difficult review I ever wrote. I have been to my fair share of high class restaurants, but I can't remember a visit as bad as to Ikarus, when I visited Salzburg with my wife. Let me preface this with a disclaimer. The food was good. We had the 8 course menu by the guest chef Anthony Genovese which was slightly adjusted as we don't eat meat. Therefore two courses with meat were switched with vegetarian courses. We had a table reserved for 7 pm and were greeted very friendly by the lady at the entrance and brought to our table. However, from them on something was off. At first I thought I was just imaging things, but my wife felt the same. We felt like the service did not like us, like we were disturbing them. We were treated cold and unfriendly. We asked for a wine pairing, but we did not want 8 glasses of wine each and asked if we could get just 4 glasses for the 8 course menu. This was seen as a very strange request, but the female waiter said she would accommodate our wish. However we did not get a wine for the first course. We then asked the sommelier and he brought us the first glass. However, then we had to ask again for another glass when we got the third course. As I wrote in the beginning, this review is very difficult as there were no other special incidents, just this strange vibe. The whole time we felt like everyone around us was treated more nicely and warm-hearted. I really regret that I did not speak up and ask the service what was wrong and why they thought we deserved such a treatment.
