An essential, deeply moving museum documenting the realities of the Vietnam War through photographs, military hardware, and personal artifacts.
- Good to know
- Allow at least two hours; some exhibits are highly graphic.

We went on a Monday and it was packed, but the many floors and airconditioned rooms provided much relief from the May heat. I was sobbing while reading the history and looking at the photos. The museum did a great job in the layout and information provided. There were even audio tours available. The collection inside was vast; lots of photos, videos, and text infos. You can que in line or pay through the electronic kiosk. There was no line nor waiting. Lots of space for photos. I just wish there were more sitting availability around the tour rooms. I highly appreciated the kid’s playroom where my toddler was able to run and play. They had lots of puzzles and toys and books. Definitely go here if it’s your first time in Vietnam. I have a profound respect and admiration for the Vietnamese people and their resilience and bravery. And the souvenir shop had great selection of magnets and quirky toys.
This museum attracts a lot of visitors and for good reason when you enter and see the exhibits. Please be aware there are areas that are quite graphic and show pictures that may be disturbing for younger people. The museum is worthy of your interest because it shows the part ma if wars that those of us that haven’t experienced cannot truly understand. There are some great actual aircraft and vehicles from the war on display as well as depictions of what prison camps were like. There is a sobering exhibit that talks about agent orange and the fact that it is still impacting people born in this generation. A must see in my opinion if you are in the area.
Visiting this memorial was a moving experience, an insightful one, and an emotional one for me and my wife.. It teaches you something which no teacher can, no history book can. It just re-inforces one's belief that no war can be good for humanity, and peaceful co-existence is the only way forward. No visit to Saigon will be complete without a visit to this museum. I dont need to give any further details in my review. Just for information, there is a cafe and a souvenir shop within the complex.
Wow. Definitely shows a different view to what is told outside of Vietnam. Highly recommend the audio tour. Its only 80,000 and gives so much detail and really brings the photos to life. The equipment outside the building are amazing to see too.
An absolutely incredible experience. Some parts can be quite intense and difficult to take in, especially the sections describing the prison conditions and the number of civilians who lost their lives during the war. However, it is definitely worth visiting. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of the country’s history and the resilience of its people in their fight for independence.
