Dining at Anan Saigon was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Ho Chi Minh City. As Vietnam's Michelin-starred restaurant, expectations were naturally high, and I'm happy to say it exceeded them. What I love about Anan is how it takes familiar Vietnamese flavours and elevates them into something creative, modern, and memorable without losing their authenticity. We started with the famous Le Petit Banh Mi, and it was every bit as good as the hype suggests. Small in size but huge in flavour, it was the perfect bite to kick off the meal. The Foie Gras Spring Roll was another standout, combining richness and texture beautifully. We also ordered the Bone Marrow with Banh Mi, which was indulgent, decadent, and absolutely delicious. The Crab Fried Rice was packed with flavour and generous portions of crab, while the Fried Noodles showcased how even a seemingly simple dish can be transformed with excellent execution and quality ingredients. One of my personal favourites was the Salmon Waffle Tart. It was beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and offered a wonderful combination of flavours and textures. Beyond the food, the service made the experience even more special. A special shoutout to Tran, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable throughout the evening. He took the time to explain every dish in detail, sharing the stories and inspiration behind them, which added another layer to the dining experience. Great food tells a story, and Anan Saigon does exactly that. If you're visiting Ho Chi Minh City, this is one Michelin-starred experience not to be missed.

Read here for an honest review. We reserved a table at 8.30pm for the chef tasting menu. However, we were late and arrived at 9.10pm. Sadly they could no longer serve the chef tasting menu as the course it takes relatively long. We were offered the Saigon Tasting Menu instead, which I thought they were super nice about it. Not only that, they offered to upgrade one item on our menu as a good will. To cut the story short, food was excellent, service was even better. Service staff were extremely friendly especially “Khiet” and “Dung” (I hope I got their name right, but it was basically two male service staff). They would check in on us and have friendly conversation. It’s one thing to have good food, but also the service staff creating an unforgettable experience in which both of them did super well. I would definitely come back to this city simply for the food and excellent service.

We chose the à la carte option since there were four of us and we wanted to share, and honestly, we loved every single dish we ordered. Everything was incredibly delicious—well cooked, well seasoned, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent; the staff were attentive and welcoming throughout the night. Our absolute favourite dish has to be the foie gras spring roll—it was so good that we had to order another round. My personal favourite was the A5 wagyu bánh mì. The beef was tender and juicy, with just the right amount of chew. The crab fried rice was also outstanding—simple yet packed with flavour. The price was very reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. Compared to where I live, it felt surprisingly affordable. We paid around 1,650 per person, and we were completely full—amazing value for money. This meal truly stood out as one of the highlights of our trip and was genuinely memorable. We’re so glad we decided to dine here.

We dined at Anan Saigon with high expectations that come with a Michelin-recognized restaurant—creative concept, clean execution, beautiful presentation, and bold, memorable flavors. This time, those expectations were fully met and exceeded. The location itself is part of the charm—set right in the middle of a bustling market, surrounded by local vendors, yet inside is a refined and vibrant dining experience. It creates a unique and exciting contrast. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish impressed us. The tacos were incredible, the bánh mì was next level, and each course delivered strong, well-balanced flavors. The dessert soufflé was a highlight—I could easily have had three of them. Overall, this was a true “wow” experience from start to finish. A creative, flavorful, and memorable meal that absolutely lives up to its reputation.

Fine as an experience and definitely not fine dining. Pricesand expectations are high, and they don't match either of them. Simply overpriced. (Around 150 USD / person) Drinks: need improvement. Mocktails are simply sugar plus water. MAIN CRITERIA: 1. Quality of the ingredients: overall, the products used to elaborate simple dishes are at a good / high quality, they don't surprise. 2. Mastery of culinary techniques: they are using good techniques mastered by other Michelin restaurants in the beginning 2000s. Solid execution. Meats are cooked at a right and balance point ( probably the best of the meal) But ...No very innovative*** 3. Harmony and balance of flavors: achieved, the team at the kitchen are doing a good job. 4. Personality of the chef in the cuisine: we didn't have the opportunity to meet anyone from the team, apart from the waiting staff. OTHER CRITERIA NOT INCLUDED INTOT THE MICHELIN STARS: Michelin stars do not evaluate: Service quality: need urgent improvement. How to present dishes, the cadence of the dishes served at the table. For example: starters and main dishes didn't come in time. We ordered 1 main dish per person, not sharing. It is a western style meal. As a result, it gets very disorganized and the experience lost rhythm. Décor or design: they are definitely not at the standard of other good restaurants in HCMC/ Vietnam, and the experience required integrity. I.e. space between tables, the extreme noise, uncomfortable sitting, lack of space on the table. Ambiance: Poor. Lack of style. Location: access is messy and inconvenient.
