We recently stayed at Hotel de Russie and had a wonderful experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, with gorgeous surroundings and an excellent location in the city, making it very easy to explore Rome while still feeling calm and secluded. The service throughout most of our stay was great, the food was very good, and the room, although slightly small, was quiet, clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated that the hotel listened to our request before arrival and kindly provided a pregnancy pillow, which made a real difference during the stay. The marble bathroom and modern shower were lovely, and the spa area, while not huge, had everything needed including a sauna and steam room. It was always clean and relaxing, and although there were only a few seating areas, we never struggled to find a bed. There were unfortunately a couple of frustrating moments. The hotel repeatedly contacted us regarding a restaurant reservation that belonged to another guest with the same surname. Even after explaining several times that it was not us, the messages continued, and the handling of it felt a bit dismissive. The airport transfer we arranged through the hotel was also disappointing. The driver was nowhere to be found when we landed, and we spent around 40 minutes to an hour searching for him after a long flight, especially frustrating considering the premium price paid for the service. When he finally appeared, there was no apology from the driver himself. However, the hotel handled the situation professionally afterwards, apologised sincerely, and kindly offered us a complimentary breakfast, which was genuinely appreciated. Despite these issues, we truly loved our stay and would absolutely consider returning in the future.
Great bar outside for an aperitivo around 6pm just in time for sunset. Giorgia and Valerio are wonderful. They provided us with amazing service and they are fantastic mixologists. They made some great suggestions and made us some amazing cocktails we will not soon forget. We had a beautiful time.
This review is only for the patio cocktail service. Adored the patio seating atmosphere. Spacious and romantic. Delicious cocktails and friendly staff. Had a most enjoyable afternoon here. Hotel is in a great walkable location.
Writing this review for people who are considering booking this hotel. First of all, have a clear understanding of what you get with the garden view. The real thing is not really like the photos and the garden is underwhelming. Not to say, that the major part of the garden is part of the cafe and restaurant, so it's not the type you can really enjoy. Facing the garden you will be exposed to the excessive noise till late hours of the night. Eventhough we were on level 5 and I could not sleep at night. The room service is not really at the level of a 5 star hotel. On the first day, we were missing most amenities. One of the towels was not clean. On the second day we left early in the morning and came back around 3PM, And our room had not been serviced. Upon enquiry, they just said our priority was with the rooms which were being vacated. The staff do not understand English that well, so prepare yourself for a hard time to make them understand simple English requests. I think the last punch in the face was the automatic addition of a tip per night to the final invoice. This was labelled as a "Discretionary appreciation fee" which was around 112Euros per night. What made it worse was, this was not communicated with us in any way and I just picked up on it in the last second. The way it works is, this is automatically added to your invoice and you need to request it to be removed if you don't want to pay it. Which is quite absurd, if its discretionary it needs to be communicated properly and offered rather than being automatically added for everyone. At the end of the day, I need to compare this hotel and the price point with other 5 star hotels, and I need to say, they need to step up their game.
Elegant, high-end patio in the heart of Rome, with friendly and well-trained staff. However, it’s quite shocking that in such an exclusive setting only pod coffee is available, and you can’t have a proper espresso made from freshly ground beans—the true Italian way. In a city like Rome, where espresso is a symbol of culture, this feels like a real miss. I hope this option will be offered soon, at least upon request, as a high-quality espresso, not to mention cappuccino, should be the standard in a place of this level. Thank you!
