I've been staying at this hostel for two weeks and it was amazing. The breakfast and food are great. The outdoor area is really pleasant, and the room is spacious and bright. The best thing about this hostel is obviously the staff, who are always happy to help guests and make sure they have the best experience possible. Shoutout to Mario, who was always friendly with us and made sure we had everything we needed! À bientôt !

Very nice hotel with amazing staff,from the rooftop bar, the reception,security and the restourant servers, all amazing people with smile on their face. Mario and Mathieus from the reception were excellent english speakers that helped us a lot with the best tips and recommendations and matched all of our needs without them our stay at Lapa wasn't going to be this good im pretty sure. Felipe the security was also amazing guy with humor and smile on his face. Definitely i will come back!

I can't speak to other Socialtel locations, but this one is a scam. I booked a dorm bed for Carnival several months ago and was supposed to pay on arrival. About a month after I booked, the complete cost of my stay was charged to my card (...weird). Shortly after this, I received an email stating that they were canceling my reservation due to renovating dorms into private rooms. They told me that I would receive my refund within 30-60 days (which is an absurd amount of time), but it has been over 2 months and I still have not been refunded. I have read reviews confirming that I am not the only victim of this scam. Book with this company at your own risk!!

In the heart of Lapa this hotel fits right in. You are 2 min walk from the famous stairs, and 10 min walk from all the bars and clubs. The metro is a 5 min walk. Breakfast has great options but too many fruit flies around the food. You get a welcome drink which you can claim at the roof top bar. They also host so many activities everyday like Karaoke, free walking tours etc. You can eat lunch and dinner there out of your own pocket and I recommend it. Reviews say the area is dangerous and I didn’t find it to be the case entirely. There are plenty of homeless around so if you go out at night stay in lit areas and don’t go alone to feel extra safe. The room is very nice but wish it came with a TV. Too many fruit flies around breakfast time.

Very disappointing experience for a hotel of this level. The hotel’s laundry service ruined three items of my clothing, all white pieces. Even if the laundry was outsourced, Sofitel is fully responsible for the handling, quality control, and outcome of a service they manage and charge for. At a price of 50 BRL per kilogram, one would reasonably expect a high level of care and professionalism. This alone justifies no more than one star, and it genuinely feels that compensation should be offered for the damage caused. What makes this even more frustrating is that I had laundry done several times during the same trip elsewhere, at a fraction of the price, without any issues at all. Ruining three white garments is simply unacceptable and far below the standard expected from a Sofitel property. Overall, a very poor experience that seriously undermines the hotel’s premium positioning.
