The beer flows at this cozy bohemian haunt, with live bossa nova, samba & jazz most nights.via Google

The historic alleyway and intimate club where Bossa Nova was born in the late 1950s, still hosting nightly jazz.

We had to visit the place where Bossa Nova was born in the 1950s/60s while visiting Rio! The place is split in two bars, Bottles Bar being the main venue. We went to Bottles Bar on a Friday night and loved the atmosphere. A cosy venue with the iconic Rio mosaic tiles by the bar, and walls full of photos and names of Brazilian music legends. We paid cash at the door before the show started but it's also possible to message them to reserve a table in advance. Great service. A must visit!

Beco das Garrafas is a must-visit spot for live music lovers, especially if you enjoy Bossa Nova. We caught a fantastic live performance here, and the atmosphere felt intimate and authentic. You can order drinks and food while enjoying the show, which makes the whole experience even better. It’s a great place to spend a relaxed evening and really feel the musical culture of Rio de Janeiro.

On Mondays, they have this trio with piano, drums and bass. It is the birthplace of Bossa Nova, and it keeps the same atmosphere. The music is terrific, the beer is cold, but the food is not their strength. Yesterday, we had a lot of nationalities, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

We’re just on our last few days of travelling South America for 4 months and can honestly say this is one of our favourite things we’ve done, Marcos was incredible as was his band mate! We hope to see them both again. 100% recommend! Starts at 9pm ish; drinks are reasonable, you can book ahead of time via their WhatsApp.

Super fun vibes, the musicians were very knowledgeable about the history of music in Rio and wove it through the show. They did the show in both English and Portuguese. Very cool vibes, nice drinks and cool space. Loved it!
