Ox was easily one of our best dining experiences, not just in Iceland, but anywhere. Every course had me literally shaking my head in amazement, and the wine pairings were SO well done too; some of the best wines I've had! The atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the staff's rapport was pure entertainment. Their enthusiastic and lively descriptions of each course's ingredients, and preparations took the whole experience to another level. While it was pricey, we felt it was absolutely worth every cent, and definitely something we would want to do again if we return to Reykjavík. 100% recommend it!
What a beautiful restaurant and intriguing experience. Possibly the best meal I’ve ever had. Perfect from start to finish. The graffiti’d door, the smokey hallway leading to the speakeasy downstairs where you enjoy your first glass of champagne (+/- cocktail) and first 5 courses… Then you enter the main dining room through a bookshelf in the wall and enjoy an intimate dinner prepared right in front of you with a small group. I can’t find fault with any of the dishes. Loved every minute of it. Pricey but worth the splurge!

Dining at OX in Iceland feels like stepping into someone’s home. The space is designed like a cozy kitchen and living room, almost as if you’re visiting the chef’s grandmother’s house. The 60s and 70s décor adds charm and makes the whole experience feel warm and personal. The food celebrates authentic Icelandic traditions, with dishes that are both comforting and creative. Every plate felt thoughtful and true to the country’s flavors. Did you know OX only seats a handful of guests at a time? That intimacy makes the evening feel more like a gathering among friends than a typical restaurant visit. OX is truly a special place for anyone wanting to experience Icelandic cuisine in a unique and personal way.
