Visited for dinner on 02/03/26. Such a cute, cozy little restaurant. Really nice decor and vibes, delicious food and attentive service. Highly recommend the fish pans as a main course. Generous portions and reasonably priced. The perfect place for a quiet meal after a long day out in the winter cold!

We loved Messinn so much on our first trip to Iceland that it was one of the very first reservations we made for our second trip, and it was exactly as we remembered. Cute interior, friendly service, and seriously good food. They truly know how to do fish well. Everything comes out in sizzling hot pans; simple, homestyle comfort food done right. Portions are generous, made for sharing, and for Iceland, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. The Plokkfiskur was unreal, a total flavor behemoth, and easily one of the best fish I’ve ever had. It was insanely flaky with crispy skin, drenched in a rich, velvety cream sauce that goes big on flavor. The lemon and tomatoes cut through the richness perfectly. The Atlantic Wolffish was equally impressive, bathed in a savory, well-seasoned sauce that highlighted the fish’s meaty, tender texture. The Plaice was delicate and mild, cooked perfectly to let its natural sweetness shine. The Seafood Pasta, Fish Burger, and Oven-Baked Lobster were all solid hits as well. We ended the meal with the Warm Chocolate Cake—gooey, rich, and dangerously good. For us, Messinn continues to be a must-visit every single time.

I had only one day and wanted to try 3 of their dishes so I decided to take away with me. The place is walkable distance from Harpa concert hall. It's small rustic place. The girl who served me was nice but over all staff was a bit rude and non courteous.. food was fresh but little bland. I was expecting seafood pasta to be thick and creamy but it was watery and so was Code fish pan.. The take away boxes should have been suitable for these types of dishes but the boxes were suitable for dry stuff like Burger so all sauces leaked in the bag. It was a bit disappointing after paying 180 CAD for just 3 dishes. The paper bag was very small and I had to hold 2 separate bags which was difficult to walk around in extremely chilly and windy weather outside. There were no disposable spoons or forks with take away food. If they are in tourist area they should have more welcoming staff and should have better serving utensils and take away boxes. Overall food was fresh but a bit less flavorful for me compared to other places I explored during my trip.

Table for four including two teens. Keen to try Icelandic fish dishes, baked in a pan and delivered to your table. It did not disappoint. It took a while to get our order placed but the food was tasty and well presented. The plokfiskkur was in a large shared pan as two of us chose this so swapping seats may be needed. We also had the char and the cod tongue (an Icelandic delicacy, slightly gelatinous). Definitely book ahead, well worth a visit.

This restaurant had the worst service experience in Iceland, bar none! We had a large group and made a reservation on the spot. While waiting, my child got thirsty, so I got a cup of water for him. A man in a white T-shirt simply snatched the cup from our hands! Note, "snatched"! He was extremely arrogant and rude, saying we couldn't drink water if we weren't eating at the restaurant! The water is for customers. The key point is, we were customers, just waiting customers. A young child just wanted a drink of water, and the child was well-behaved, not crying or making a fuss. We argued with him a bit, but he still wouldn't give us any, so we had to go outside to buy water ourselves! Since we were a group, we thought we should just eat since we had made a reservation and not bother others. However, a man and a woman in our group ordered the same dish, specifying that they wanted two portions! When it arrived, there was only one portion! When we asked the waiter to at least divide it, he impatiently said it was made into one portion and we had to divide it ourselves! All I can say is that the food was so-so, and the price was 50-60 euros per person. In short, it was a terrible experience overall.
