If you’re exploring Reykjavík, Mama Vegan is such a peaceful little escape you’ll be glad you found. Tucked right near the harbor and the shopping district, the location itself is perfect for a relaxed break during a busy day of sightseeing. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm, beautiful, and almost Zen-like. The interiors are eclectic yet thoughtfully put together, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light—it’s one of those spaces where you instantly feel at ease and want to linger a little longer. The menu is entirely vegan, with a wide variety of thoughtfully curated options. Everything feels intentional—healthy, balanced, and full of flavor. That said, it is on the pricier side, and the portions are definitely on the petite side, so it’s more about quality and experience than a hearty, filling meal. One of the sweetest touches? It’s dog-friendly! We ended up meeting a bunch of adorable furry friends, which made the experience even more special. Overall, it’s a lovely spot if you’re looking for something fresh, mindful, and beautifully presented. Definitely recommend—just maybe not if you’re on a tight budget.
My husband and I visited tonight and we were blown away! The host was absolutely lovely and the food was incredible. We agreed they were quite possibly some of the best dishes we have ever tasted. We have been vegan for some time and love discovering new vegan. This is definitely one of the best ones we have found and I have no doubt that vegans and non-vegans alike will love the offerings at Mama Reykjavik. It is truly a rare gem! Thank you again 😊
The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere to dine. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. The menu has some Indian-inspired elements but leans more toward a fusion style rather than traditional cuisine. Portions are generous, offering good value for the price. One drawback is the limited selection for those who prefer mild dishes, with only a couple of non-spicy stew options available for mains.
Had a really good meal here on our first night in Reykjavík. Wonderfully vegetarian menu and the portions were plentiful. Definitely get the signature garlic bread to dip into your bowls. Would probably skip the lentil chips. Prices were pretty reasonable considering it’s Iceland. Would definitely come back.
Great service and cool vibe to the restaurant. They have a large fully vegan menu! We fully enjoyed the dhal, naan and nachos! Also had excellent oat milk lattes!
