If you’re in Reykjavik and want something different, Krua Thai is a great spot for authentic Thai food 🇹🇭🔥 We tried a mix of dishes and everything felt fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. Service was quick and friendly, and the overall vibe was casual and comfortable, perfect after a long day of exploring.
Normally we wouldn’t eat dinner so late, but due to an all-day tour, we came in at 9:00P. By that time, they understandably only allowed diners to occupy the space on the first floor, which had just a few tables. Despite us sitting down within the last hour of their opening, the staff still tended to us with kindness and patience. We appreciated them! Some other customers arrived after us and they were welcomed in as well. We quickly decided on our order and it wasn’t long before our food was ready. + PANANG CURRY w/ PORK: Even though we didn’t specify the spice level, the heat was perfect for me at which I’d describe as 2.5 out of 5 stars. The pork was nice and lean, and the curry included green beans and thin strips of bamboo. Rice was included. + MIXED VEGETABLES w/ TOFU: The dish included mostly cauliflower with some bell peppers and a bit of broccoli in a very thin oyster sauce. The tofu was on the firm side and cut into evenly-sized cubes. This is a standard veggie dish. + RICE NOODLES w/ CHICKEN: Thin noodles came mixed in a brown sauce that surprisingly was more sweet than salty. The chicken was tender and a fair amount of vegetables and egg were mixed in. We liked this dish overall, but it would have been better with some spice. Thanks to Krua Thai for a tasty Thai dinner after a long day of travel!
legit thai restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik old town, just minutes walk from the famous church. im a singaporean solo traveller who was craving south east asian flavours and RICE. read the amazing reviews on Krua Thai and had dine here. Ordered green curry chicken with rice - brown rice was served instead of white rice but its a small issue, still hit the spot. loved that theres bamboo shoots in the curry (hallmark of legitimacy), and authentic options for chilli (both powdered and pickled). this was probably the most expensive thai street food ive had but the satisfaction i got from this much-needed lunch??? PRICELESS. this picky asian foodie RECOMMENDS THIS SPOT.
It’s been a while since I had Thai food! Thai dishes are usually served in small portions, but this place served generous portions, so I was able to eat to my heart’s content.
Non-expectation of the food, the food was amazing could it hold its taste of Thai chili and the smell of Thai food. Cozy place with nice people in Iceland. Nothing better than warm spicy soup with Thai smile 😁.
