It’s a 5-star, especially if you go in expecting proper robust traditional French cuisine. It’s not nouvelle by any means. The squab was bold and delicious. The cod was nuanced and clever. The foie gras “experience” was just that. The recommended sauterne was a perfect pairing, and my Pessac-Léognan 2020 from Les Hauts de Smith for the squab leapt out at you! The chocolate tart dessert was perfect. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive without being cloying or stiff. The atmosphere is of course perfectly on-theme. Our local friend “warned” us that it will be rich and saucy. That was not criticism but compliment. One must go knowing this.

An amazing place. The food is beyond belief, of course, but the experience is what truly sets Le Saint-Amour apart. This is a happy place, where everyone is happy to welcome you to this temple of high cuisine. And the value is great - during 7 days in Quebec we paid almost as much for far lesser food. Reserve with confidence - you will make lifetime memories.

Overall, everything about this place screams 'five-star restaurant.' However, I wonder if we were treated differently because we were younger than the regulars. While our waiter and waitress were truly great, the rest of the staff fell short. There was almost no eye contact, no smiles, and no greetings. We had to refill our own wine glasses and waited so long for the check that we eventually had to stand up and go to the front desk. We even ended up grabbing our own coats from the coat check because the wait was so long. I am 100% sure the servers were doing their absolute best given how busy it was, but it seemed like other staff members weren't doing much to help. For such a high-end establishment, we expected to be treated as such.

Wow! What a dining experience! My boyfriend and I went in not knowing what to expect. But from the very first bite of our two appetizers to the very last bite of our desserts, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal from their winter menu. Everyone was pleasant and polite and the overall ambiance made our dinner that much more enjoyable. We loved the oysters & caviar, the Foie Gras experience, Halibut fillet, and rack of lamb. A great date night spot and overall dinner spot for people of all ages. If you get a chance to visit Quebec City, this is a must! Also a heads-up, be prepared to spend at least 2 hours here, as is the norm with any fine dining place.

We drove up to Quebec City for 4 days of vacation. We booked a hotel in the upper old city so we could easily walk to all the historic sites. We researched this hotel from home so we made sure to eat there. We went a little early as we did not have a reservation. We were offered a table in the middle but my wife asked to move. After a short time, the waiter came and moved us to a side table which was much better. We ordered a variety of dishes but the best was the baby lamb chops. I also had two glasses of a very nice French wine. This restaurant is owned by celebrity chef Jean Luc Boulay. I highly recommend it if you want delicious food in a spectacular restaurant setting.
