Lovely quirky hotel! Had a really friendly atmosphere. Room was excellent (although I wasn't too sure about the masks on the lamps!). The food offered in the restaurant was also lovely. Would recommend. A shout out to Michael on the front desk - he was really friendly and willing to help answer any questions. Coincidentally he was the same person on the desk when I checked out too. Great customer service!
We had a pleasant stay at Mama Shelter. The receptionists were generally very welcoming. Despite a small incident with one of the receptionists, she later apologized and the hotel quickly provided a solution, which we appreciated. The room was very comfortable and the quirky decor was really beautiful, true to the spirit of the hotel. As for the breakfast, we really enjoyed the sweet options, but the savory selection was less convincing for us. Overall, it was a good stay!
It’s a different experience. Not like other hotels. It has lots of positive vibes that welcome you from the moment you enter: the colors, the arcade games, the billiard table, etc… The breakfast could be better. The rooms are clean and staff is very friendly. If Michael is on duty, then you are in safe hands. He is super efficient, friendly and ready to help any times. He knows every single detail in the hotel.
Overall, this was an OK hotel, but there are several small issues that could be easily improved. First, they do not offer complimentary welcome drinks to Gold members or above. When I asked about this, I was told that the water and apple juice placed in the room counted as the welcome drink. I explained that this limited my options (I don’t like plain water or apple juice) and didn’t cover all guests in the room. Staff insisted this was a Mama Shelter policy. I contacted ALL Accor Customer Care, who confirmed: “As a Gold member, you should have received a welcome drink for all guests on your reservation.” They said they would follow up with the hotel’s management. The whole situation felt like a cost‑saving measure rather than a genuine loyalty benefit. Secondly, while the staff were polite, they weren’t particularly warm or engaging. For comparison, I stayed at the central Novotel immediately after this visit, and the difference was noticeable: friendly greetings, questions about my stay, and a general sense of welcome. At Mama Shelter, check‑out summed it up perfectly: “You have nothing to pay. Bye.” No “How was your stay?” or any attempt at connection. Thirdly, breakfast was very good in terms of quality, but the experience was let down by how busy it was. Seating was limited, and on the second day they even ran out of forks. Finally, despite these issues, the hotel was overall acceptable. The rooms were fine (though lacking tea/coffee facilities), the kids’ amenities were great (pool table, games machines, etc.), the food and drink were good, and although the location is outside the centre, transport links are close by and the surrounding area is pleasant.
We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Mama Shelter Prague as a couple and couldn’t be happier with our experience. The hotel has a fantastic atmosphere, with stylish design, great facilities, and a very comfortable room that made our stay truly enjoyable. What made our visit especially memorable was the outstanding professionalism and kindness of the staff. A special thank you to Elvin, Sasha, and Michael for their exceptional service, as well as Yabs and Marie from the night shift, who were incredibly attentive, welcoming, and helpful. We would also like to sincerely thank Dasha for her valuable help with our reservation — her support made everything smooth and stress-free from the start. No matter the time of day, every team member made sure everything was perfect and always assisted us with genuine kindness and professionalism. Their positive attitude and dedication truly made us feel valued as guests. The location is excellent, the overall vibe of the hotel is modern, vibrant, and unique, and the service exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely recommend Mama Shelter Prague to anyone visiting the city and would happily stay here again.
