We had a birthday celebration here, and the Suay team prepared a surprise birthday dessert, which we truly appreciated. We ordered the Premium set for 2 persons, and it was definitely worth the visit. The food and service were both very good, and every dish in the set menu was amazing. I was especially impressed by the foie gras in betel leaf wrap and the tuna carpaccio with wasabi ice cream. The grilled lamb chop was a bit too salty for my personal taste.
We decided to give this place a try after hearing such raves about it. Unfortunately, we were pretty underwhelmed, perhaps because of the intense anticipation leading up to it. And don't forget, prices are on the higher side, which is something to be expected considering it's top-notch Thai fine dining that has received accolades including recognition by the Michelin guide. Despite the fact that we were looking forward to eating there, we unfortunately ended up quite disappointed with the overall food quality. The taste and overall flavor just didn't quite match up to the prices, the overall reputation, and all the hype surrounding the place. In fact, most of the dishes turned out to be disappointing and underwhelming. We sincerely hope that things can be improved in this area.
Hits and misses. Hits for us: - watermelon salad with dried tuna & fried shallots (juicy, sweet & savoury) - crab curry on open-face taco (aromatic curry on playful crackling taco shells) - crispy skin duck served on mochi pearl barley (intense meat flavours) Misses: - foie gras on betel leaf (no fireworks) - crispy fried frog legs (meat too tough) - mango sticky rice (cold fried sticky rice roll & ice cream don’t work; serve the local way & we will be happy) A staff deserves mention: Lily. Always smiling & attentive even though appeared tired in private. We came for dinner on a Friday. There was a duet performing live music. Nice touch.
Wow. Had a fantastic dinner here with the family and my uncle. Suay Cherngtalay is on another level. The fusion of flavors is incredible and the vibe is spot on. Definitely the best restaurant in Phuket right now. The Michelin star is well-deserved, but the experience is what really counts. Highly recommend!
From time to time, my wife and I have visited Phuket for many times. I can say that Suay restaurant is the one I like the most so far. The atmosphere here is not extravagantly high-end or grand but it strikes a perfect balance between elegance and coziness. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out, the environment sets the stage just right for a memorable experience. The service is impeccable. The staff is attentive and passionate, making you feel welcomed and valued. About the foods — the appetizer, crab curry taco caught me by suprise. Followed by a rich Tom Yum Lobster Bisque. For the main course, we ordered a grilled King Prawn and Duck curry, which were extremely delicious. Lastly, the dessert Baked Alaska made our dinner a perfect one. Given the quality of the food, the exceptional service, and a wonderful atmosphere, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
